Where any of your teams good? I've known a lot of players over the years and never heard one down play the importance of a good coaching staff.

I've never once said Tomlin is a bad coach because of missed first downs, dropped balls, or even losing A game we should have won. One or two games doesn't make a career. I'm talking about the last 5 years. I think 5 years is a pretty good sample size to take. In those 5 years many of the players have changed. We've always had enough talent to make the playoffs. I'd even argue a couple years I think we were SB worthy. What has been the consistent theme? What has happened more than once or twice? What pretty much has happened 2,3, even 4 times a season? #1 Losing to bad teams. #2 Sloppy football #3 Can't win / must win games.

1 playoff victory in 5 seasons...and that game we should have lost... and you could probably argue we didn't really deserve to be in the playoffs this year after losing to a Ravens team who just pulled a QB off the street. We were out and needed the Bills to upset the Jets to get in. We were not a team in transition. We have a franchise QB with talent all around him. We have spent how many 1st and 2nd round picks on defensive players? Our defensive coach can't seem to have any effect on our defense. 30th ranked pass defense in the NFL... maybe the worst corners in the league...and our HC was a secondary coach and a DC. These are not single instances. I'm not even talking about a bad year...or even 2 bad years. I'm talking about 5 years in a row were we under performed. I don't know of many coaches who can under perform for 5 years straight and still keep their job. At some point you have to put responsibility on the guy in charge.

 

Unless you are the Bronco's... then you don't need a complete team. or the 2015 patriots or the 2013 Ravens. or the 2012 Giants.... do I need to list more? This isn't the 70's or 80's NFL.

No one blames a coach for 1 bad game...or 2 bad games... After 5 seasons of losing to teams you should beat... I think it's a fair judgement. I think Tomlin's had enough time to get the right players.

 

Google Ken sparks and that will tell u all u need to know about who I played for. I never said coaches weren't important. All I will say is if u are gonna go back over Tomlin career and break it down, do me a favor.
How many times has he has a healthy offensive line a full year?
How many times has he had a healthy ben all year?
I get what u are saying about tomlin. But u can't put it all on him. I am saying u have to look at the players
Yes we have a franchise qb, but how many times has he played horrible in those games we should win?
Tomlin also isn't the only voice in drafting players I am sure.
When the steelers lose, I blame players more than coaches but hey, I was a player for a while. I would never say it was the coaches fault we lost. Just like a good coach would never blame the player. But that's me

 

I am not crazy mad cause in my heart of hearts with way the season started with suspensions and Ben getting hurt and bell missing season and then williams and brown getting hurt and a bad defense I never thought we were gonna win but with an easy schedule if we are healthy next year and we barely get in cause we are playing down to are competition and we get knocked out in WC game to the bungholes I am gonna be livid..........

 

I mean ESPN and everybody is still talking about it. It was the play that ended our season, biggest play of the playoffs, and it's the off-season and nothing else to talk about. I figured another professional opinion deserved it's own thread but I understand the merge.

 

It's a slow time of year. You could probably get 300 views of people arguing about the coin flip. A thousand if it was fumbled.

Those teams you listed are more complete than the Steelers duh. The team has been in transition on defense the last 3 seasons. The Steelers aren't the Browns and fire their coach every season, Tomlin isn't the GM he doesn't pick these players on his own, that's Kevin Colbert job get a clue.

This thread is 6 pages long now and I still can't understand how anyone thinks that this year was the Steelers superbowl! With all the injuries, suspensions, horrible secondary play, etc. it's a miracle we made the playoffs at all!
Not to mention whiffing on signing Steven Jackson!
