    This right here.

I'll also add I don't work for them nor does their winning and losing impact my life financially.

I don't care if others want to refer to them as "we", but personally I will never say that.

Also I will never wear another persons jersey. I have plenty of "Steelers" shirts, hats, and jackets that I'll wear on game day or to the stadium but will never put on the shirt of another man. Again, I have nothing against those who do, but its just not for me.

Call me a "severely anal retentive, obsessively picky, or monumentally pedantic, boorish nitwit" all you want, I don't care.

My Steelers and we, and I have plenty of Steeler items including 5 or 6 jerseys. But to each his own. The only thing that matters is a black and gold win! :)

Dude if I went to one of OUR games without a jersey on I would feel naked. LOL. The only Steelers gear I wouldn't wear are flip flops. (for obvious reasons) HA.

I always refer to My steelers as us, or our, or we. It just comes natural. When something consumes so much of your life you have no choice but to feeel a part of it. My wife is the same way about her beloved redskins. I may not have ever put on uniform and played for MY steelers, but in my mind I am part of them, as they are part of me! :herewego!::steelflag::herewego::drinks::herewego!:

Me: "I had to work late, did we win?"
You: "Weee didn't do anything. The team won, though."
    Me: "Huh?"

Me: "I had to work late, did we win?"
    You: "Yeah! 27-24 in overtime."

Damn that was a good post. :applaud:

im totally with you on the jersey thing. ive thought about buying a jersey, but i just cant do it. i have a ton of Steeler shirts and hats, but its just weird to me to put on a jersey with another dudes name on it.

i also have a serious issue with people who were jerseys with their own name on it. that is one thing that i think is just ridiculous. i dont know why, but it bugs the heck out of me.

Without us there would be no team to refer to. Who buys the tickets, jerseys, flags, hats, etc? We do. We are definitely a part of this team. I always use we, us, our.

I must admit though I have refered to them at times in terms that would get me throw out of here.

I've been known to call them all kinds of things depending on how they play.

I've also got a stake in paying for steelers stuff, seating license and tickets, parking, food and drink, and have friends that played for them, tank fulls of gas to go see them, so yea, I've earned that right, but hey that's me.

we, our, them, bone heads, steel heads, stillers, dumb azzez, best in the business and so on, but don't let a fan from another team say something bad. i'll defend them til the end. 54 years a fan and steel counting.:stogie:

    Go Stillers

My wife got me a Steeler jersey for Christmas that has my name on it and my old high school number. Where it to a game and you might have to explain it. Alot of times I get "whose jersey is that?" I just say mine.

I got the same thing...and its because I knew I would not be leaving the team for another anytime soon.

If its not WE and OUR....why do other team fans enjoy giving US so much flack when THEY lose.

Yeah I was gonna say this also. People that know me know that I love the Steelers and when we lose a game they'll come up and say "What happened to you guys this weekend?" or "Are you guys gonna win this weekend?" I also know people that started hating the Steelers because I love them so much and they just want to see me feel bad! LOL. My buddy is a huge Bears fan and he said "I never had any feelings at all about the Steelers until I started working with you but now I want them to lose every game!" I love the "us against the world" feeling anyway though. HA!

When asked who our team is, our family has been drilled to reply with simply,
"The CHAMPS!" Kind of been a 40 year or rather, 3 generations worth type of thing for us now!

    Yeah. LMAO...
I got a 23 year old kid at work, that asked me if he should bring some Kleenex in to work on Monday, implying, that I would need em, to dry my tears, after we lost on Sun....
I said, "Sure, you`re gonna need `em after Wallace, and the rest of that sorry ass crew from Miami, shows you how bad your team really sucks!!!"..
The kid thinks his Clowns are gonna be good this year!
I haven`t even unleashed the " how many Superbowls have you won?"...
"How many games have you won against us outta the last 20?"...
"how many times you been in the Playoffs, since you been back in the League... Who knocked you out of the playoffs????"...
    Etc... Etc... Etc...
For the most part, I`ve just grinned and shrugged my shoulders at him, like ... "Whatever"..
I`m savin` all that for the rest of the season, but,,,....
    Reallly?
This kid thinks his team is good?, And questions ME? About why I like the STEELERS?!?!
LMAO!... I can`t wait to turn the cellophane from a pack of cigarettes, upside down, on a table, in front of him, and ask if he knows what it is... "The Cleveland Browns Trophy Case!!!"
    ...
Yeah, It`s gonna be a fun season...
    Don`t let me down, Boyz!!!!
Give me reason to talk smack again!!!!

    GO STEELERS!!!!:herewego!:

Yeah just today this guy told me when I was leaving work that I better get ready to have an L dropped on me this weekend and I just smiled and said "we'll see..." He's a Packers fan but his in-laws are Titans season tix holders. He just couldn't resist needling me. Win or lose I'm just glad we have some football again! Now we can drop all the hypothetical stuff we've been talking about every day since February and get REAL my man!

This. Even though I've bled Black and Gold for 35 years, I've never done anything to contribute to any win or loss for the Steelers.

It's funny...I was having this discussion with someone the other day. It doesn't bother me at all when someone says "we" when referring to their team, but I always jokingly ask what roster spot they have.

Shame you`ve never got to go the stadium, and cheer for your team...
You`d love it if you did, I`m fairly sure...
    GO STEELERS!

On a side note, I was on vacation this summer with my fam and bro in law and kids from Florida. I took SO MUCH CRAP from him and his kids for my selection of footwear. They were calling my shoes "Jesus Sandals" because they said they looked like something Jesus would wear in the desert. They were begging me to buy a regular pair of sandals or flip flops and even went as fas as to drag me into RonJon and pick out a pair of open toed sandals for me.

I came back North after vacation and they're everywhere up here. Evidently closed toe sandals are a big no-no in Florida.

I look at it this way. We are all (well, most of us, apologies to freak) Americans and we always use first person pronouns when we talk about America. Why shouldn't we do the same thing when talking about the other "nation" we belong to, STEELER NATION?!!! :steelflag:

I'm not really sure. We go to Disneyworld a couple of times a year and I see a lot of people wearing them but I guess they are just tourists. Open toed sandals are incredibly ugly and now women wear these gladiator looking sandals and make their feet even UGLIER to look at.
