Just curious what everyone's feelings are about next season. After most of Steeler Nation got their hopes up yesterday, and now that the emotional roller coaster is over, what's your outlook like for next season?

Unlike last year when we finished the second half 2-6, I definitely think the arrow is pointing upward. Our 6-2 finish is reason for optimism. We just need to draft well, pick up a good mid-tier free agent or two and have some of the young guys step it up and we'll be set. Oh, and re-sign Jason Worilds and Jericho Cotchery!

I would hope that they come out with more determined focus next season.

Definitely good, excited about the offense, want them to pick up a TE, give Ben another weapon. Have to iron out a few wrinkles in the defense though.

I feel good about next season the O-line came together at the end of the season, Bell is a stud. They need to fix the secondary and have a good draft, also try to re-sign Velasco, Worilds, and Cotchery.

About the same as this year. I think we'll finish right around 8-8, possibly as high as 10-6 and in the playoffs, or possibly as low as 7-9. I think we have the talent, but the last two years we have found ways to beat ourselves. We have costly penalties, turnovers at the worst possible time, injuries (even stupid injuries such as the Pouncey one this year). We also have to deal with a team that doesn't appear to be very football smart. We just do stupid things that seem to cost us, such as Brown stepping out of bounds for absolutely no reason. That's not to blame the loss on Brown, but those are the types of things we always seem to do. The last couple years we have found ways to lose games.

I don't like Tomlin whatsoever and I think we're going to continue to beat ourselves until he's gone. I hope Im' wrong though.

I think offensively, we should be greatly improved.

My big worry is the defense. We need to get younger and faster.

But if we can add another piece or 2. Avoid too many injuries. And most importantly, the team comes prepared, I think we have a playoff run next year.

As I said in another thread, I wouldn't believe I'd be saying this in October, but I fell a helluva lot better about this season than last. And I - one of the board's resident grumps - am feeling pretty optimistic about next season... for now. ;)

I honestly don't know how to feel yet because this season is so fresh in my mind. I'm definitely more worried about defense than offense though. I think we have a great rb now and our line seems to be coming together. I would love to know if Felix Jones and LSH and Dwyer will all be back. I think Plax is gone. As far as defense I have no idea what we will look like next year because there are so many contractual issues. It is definitely gonna be one of our more interesting offseasons in a while. Stay tuned folks! LOL.

i feel surprisingly good about next season........ we have a lot of pieces to build around, and are only a few pieces away from being dominant again.

offensively, we need to continue to get better up front. I think we resign both pouncey and velasco depending on their respective recoveries, and proceed to move pouncey to guard. draft a dominant tackle and move beachum to the right, and all of a sudden we have an impenetrable line......... we're that close.
we also need to find another piece up front defensively....... heyward has the makings of a star in the works. another really strong piece up front, another good safety and corner in the draft we're right back to elite status..

Check back with me after the end of preseason... And don`t you dare tell me it doesn`t mean anything.
The wins and losses don`t, but, the preparation, and possible injuries, Damn sure do!!!
I was very optimistic at the beginnng of this year, that the players would "police themselves"... Not make the same mistakes they made the season before... or come out "flat", for games, and then...
What we saw, is what we got, at least to start the year...
I dunno, I am ALWAYS optimistic, in the offseason, but by the end of last preseason, I just had a bad feeling that, "Here we go again", shooting ourselves in the foot.
That`s pretty much where I stand now.
I think we can beat any team in the league, when we don`t make stupid mistakes, to take ourselves outta the game, and have to overcome, bad decisions, dumb penalties, turnovers, etc...
I still believe the talent is there, esp, on offense, and we will see how much of our "old" defense changes over the summer...
We got plenty of young talent there, too... And SOME of the older guys won`t be missed too much, even tho, I stilll wanna see a lot of them back...
    GO STEELERS!
