So this is 2022, but look at last year and find despite our two loss blow outs against the 'gals, 16 of their games were decided by a TD or less..many of those by a FG.

The 'gals are good, but not unbeatable. I think the key if we can get a lead is not going turtle. Burrow and Chase can score quickly and often. Don't be stupid and reckless, but still aggressive and leave no points on the field.

Well I could bring around the game day thread, and show why most people thought we lost 2 them last year, but I won't.
So by what most said last year, and it's not a factor this year.....Well shouldn't We win?????

Is your second sentence a contradiction?

Another key...will they start using their TE effectively?

Last year 'muth averaged 8 yds per, nearly 500 total and 7 tds. Not bad for a rookie. Limited in preparation season for sure, but his stats are crazy. In 5 catches over 15 yds per catch.

If they use him correctly, I think it blows opposing Ds up over the middle. Opens up the run game, Gives our WRs more one on one. I'm not expecting Kettle or Kearsy type numbers, but muth is a weapon..and over the years our TEs have not been used effectively imho. I think Heath was not used enough, one can argue that we really have not had quality since he retired, but it just seems our gameplan uses the TE as an afterthought.

Pretty hard to utilize TE when they have to stay into block. Did you see Kenny P thread that pass down the middle to Muth last week, Ben hadn't done that in years. I would love for the Steelers to utilize TE to about 80 targets a year but with this OL it will be tough.

I don't think the Bengals defense is that good. The better hope none of there starters get hurt,If they do there done. I watched them in preseason. They looked horrible. I know it's preseason, but there defense will be the reason they don't go that far.

Execute better than the Bengals at all 3 phases of the game. Execute better in situational football. Don't turn the ball over. Limit penalties. Score TDs in the redzone. Limit TDs in the redzone.

As other have alluded to, not giving up avoidable penalties and getting TDs not FGs will be key on offense.

Confuse Burrow with different coverages, which having Myles Jack will help with, on defense.

    How we beat the Bengals
-hold Burrow to less than 200 yards passing
-hold Mixon to less than 50 yards rushing
-hold Chase to less than 50 yards receiving
    -win the turnover battle

Check out the TD passes to the TE in the first minute.

It really is a shame. Have no idea how good muth can or will be, but to waste him constantly blocking we will never know.

The steelers offense would need to be just awful if they lose this game under this scenario!...Less that 250 offensive yards offense for the steelers and winning the turnover battle. If it happen and that the steelers offense is just fine, this could be a easy win for the first time since 2020

It really sucks for Trubisky. First INT or fumble and majority of Steelers fans will be calling for his head. I don't know if Pickett is as NFL ready as Roethlisberger. Ben got thrown into the fire. Should Pickett be thrown into the fire?

Clearly the key is using D Watt as a fullback

Don't play behind the sticks in early downs. Penalties will be crucial. Can't get into many 1st & 15s and 2nd & 20s and expect to win.

    Hit Burrow early and often.

If Bush struggles in the first qtr Tomlin needs to get him off the field.
If its third and 8 don't throw a 3 yd out.
Use Claypool in the slot and Pickens outside.
Get pressure on Burrows early and often.
If its working stay with it, if its not working adjust. If they do that it will be a first.
Listen to the input from Flores he might be the best defensive mind on the staff.

You remember who's our coach, right? We will do the typical Steelers BS. If we actually move the ball... settle for FGs. We will play back defensively and keep everything in front. Try to limit big plays and hope they make mistakes. Strategy that only works against inexperienced QBs. Burrow will pick us apart.
