Every player should be given a rule book upon leaving today and told to them there is a test on Thursday. Must score a 100% or your a$$$ will not play. Coaches too! Just forfeit the game if they are all that stupid!

From the beginning of the NFL, the kickoff is live. No excuse not to know this.

One thing for sure all 11 Seahawks knew the rule. They went after the ball like a pack of hungry dogs after a ham bone.

We were still in the game prior to that bone headed miscue. I blame coaching as much as I blame the player. Utterly inexcusable (and quite embarrassing I might add).

Funny, I don't think you know the rules. "From the beginning of the NFL" No, that is completely wrong. The rules changed 2 years ago, before then a kick that landed in the endzone that was never touched was considered a dead ball.

Bad coaching Staff for not having their rookie players prepared for this NEW NFL ONLY RULE.

I am not talking the new rule and this kick didn’t land in the end zone.

Any kickoff landing in the field of play has always been considered a live ball.

Thank you for your attention in this matter.

Nope that is wrong. Before 2 years ago a kick that landed on the 5 yard line and bounced into the endzone that was never touched was a dead ball as soon as it bounced into the endzone.

Now, that being said, I still think Tomlin should have challenged the call because the player that recovered the ball never had possession of the ball before rolling out of bounds. Just because the Seahawk player touched the ball in the endzone does not mean he recovered the ball before going out of bounds.

Yeah for 88 years if a kick landed in the endzone or bounced into the endzone the receiver still had to down the ball. In 2018 the rule was changed that the receiver didn't have to down the ball then the rule was changed again 2 years ago. Anyway since Johnson touched the ball first he should have known that whether playing by the new or old rules he still had to recover the ball.

For once, I'll defend tomlin and say all scoring plays are both review only. He couldn't have challenged.

The new kick off rules are stupid but that doesn’t excuse the lack of knowledge on the coaching part. He should have kicked that ball 40 rows deep. Touchback.

he had the ball. He threw it down knowing that. But Tomlin could have cashed in 5 challenges. He great at not knowing anything about them.

I didn't think Johnson ever touched the ball. He just let it go over his head and assumed it would land in the end zone for a touchback. (Not knowing the new NFL rule)

That being said, I was never a fan of Kaleb Johnson returning kicks. I just don't think he has the burst of speed it takes to get to the 30 and then start making moves, I always thought Kaleb struggled to get to the 20. He is a slow-moving train.
