The difference is Pickens makes selfish decisions consciously. Metcalf makes them because he loses his head during the game. The latter may be more likable, but it also ended up hurting the team more than Picken's antics ever did.

The Steelers have other pass rushers. They do not have another receiver who can threaten a defense.

11 of DK's games with year have been 55 yards or less - a few by a lot less. then factor in all his dumb penalties.....

Pickens was a distraction every day of the week and every game. Thats why hes gone.

With DK you know having him comes with PF’s but this isnt something he has ever done before. Ironically, they used to have to assign someone to Pickens to babysit him so he didnt get into it with the fans and here is DK getting suspended for it.

According to the NFL on Wednesday, the matter as it relates to the fan's actions is still under review. Based on information disclosed by Metcalf at the appeal hearing, the NFL will be in touch with the Lions regarding the fan code of conduct. The Lions had said on Tuesday that the fan, Ryan Kennedy, would not face any discipline from the team.

Though Tomlin said he didn't condone Metcalf's reaction, the coach said the receiver's day-to-day actions made him "easy to support."

"He's been great," Tomlin said Tuesday. "He cares. He works hard. He's a heck of a guy. He's a good teammate, and that's why he's easy to support."

Pickens was tossed in the trash because no one other than 3-4 posters here supported him not his team not his coaches

interesting that Tomlin has history of not controlling the wide receiver divas and now DK comes from Seattle and Pete Carroll has a similar 'player's coach' reputation.

DK needs to explain to the Steelers fans and his team why he was jawing and assaulting a blue haired man in the middle of the game. Did he call him DK Artest? Now we are without our #1 receiver for two games. Tomlin should hire James Harrison as the disciplinarian man for the Steelers.

DK is very lucky this guy did not get hurt, fall 10 to the ground, or end up in Cleveland.

Me, I am an upside type of guy.I could be wrong but we have extra $$$ now due to this incident. I say why not take this generously from DK and use it for an extension for another player if that is koher with the salary cap rules.

Most likely because he didn’t support his teammates. I don’t get why some fans think that the team would have sent him away for a 3rd round pick if there weren’t irreconcilable differences. “Hey, let’s give up a super talented weapon… just because.”

Well, yes and no. It's also about what he does to open up things for the other receivers.

Here's Metcalf's receiving yards as a percentage of the team total receiving yards each week.
