Rudolph is better then Haskins and dobbs. Nothing really to be debated here. Go look at his last start, he looked sharper and more competent than Ben did in his last games of the season.

Totally fair. I don't think either of us is going to bat for either of these guys really. We are arguing about the tallest midget while hoping Big Ben plays all year so we never have to see either.

About another two weeks? Unless there are cuts of players we have heard about. Then we will argue about them.

That hasn’t been my argument. My position has been, up until the last game anyway, Haskins has shown enough to be given the number two if your objective is to develop and groom him to take over for Ben. You can’t do that if he is buried as the number 3 getting no work during the week.

That makes sense to me. I'd prefer Rudolph as the backup as I think he would give us a better chance to win if he had to play, but I wouldn't feel all that optimistic anyway so I can see just preferring to go with a guy you think has more upside.

Even though Haskins has more physical upside, I’d rather roll with Rudolph in a pinch because our defense is very good, and I could see us squeak out a couple of 16-13 kind of wins with him. Haskins has a lot more downside right now IMO. He could put us in a 2 score hole pretty quickly.

Can’t really disagree with that after the Panthers game.

Robbie's pretty good, i agree. I don't think Darnold does well when his first read is taken away though.

How many teams aren't operating with a franchise QB? Way too many to say that the game is tailored to QB's and that we will find one in the next few years. Why? Because we want one more than the other teams?

Yeah, I should have replied to the other guy because this was directed more toward his comment, but I'd rather talk to you. ;)

Thank J.C. that somebody said it. Routing for Rudolph is like rooting for alcoholism.

Is why I think we build Team first and make it easier for your QB to succeed .. Need a great Defense which now means better DB'S and a Tweener type LB ..The 3-4 zone blitz scheme will not work against a smart QB it is more of a smoke and mirrors type and not so much on my man is better than yours..My point is we need to move away from that approach and get guys who can actually play on a island..

As far as the O goes a lot of Teams are going more Mobile type Offenses so the OL needs to match that and the RB needs to match that...Also it is a huge plus to have a TE who can play tight and can play out Wide..

So IMO we are a long way away on both sides of the ball, it may take 3 or 4 seasons to build a solid Team .. IMO maybe we shouldn't spend any draft capitol or money at the QB spot until we get much closer to having a strong Team..

No argument here. I'm always for foundation first. OL and DL. Get right in the trenches first and then build up from there. Otherwise, it's the milk crate challenge.

Problem is that we aren't going to do that. We aren't going to have a coaching staff, GM, and ownership committed to a 5 year plan for success. It's always going to be what we can do with what we have now, throw darts at a dart board, and if we get lucky and bullseye once in a while, then we'll build the team around the ones that pan out.

It's a losing battle, trying to build a team. By the time you get a keeper who fits your system, he's got a year left on his contract and you can't afford him. Or worse, he gets injured just as he's coming in to his own. What can you do? Winning consistently in the NFL these days is as much luck as anything else.

Agreed. No such thing as a 5 year plan. Your lucky 2 keep half of your team in 5 years.

The truth is that Mason doesn't score enough points or Ben would be gone & the Reindeer bought & paid for.

    Top 10 Defense in 2020
    1 Rams. 3-4
    2 Ravens 3-4
    3 Steelers 3-4
    4 WFT 4-3
    5 Saints 4-3
    6 Dolphins 3-4
    7 Pats 4-3
    8 Bucs 3-4
    9 Giants 3-4
    10 Colts 4-3

    Top 3 are 3-4

3-4 Bucs just beat 4-3 Chiefs in SB

I think the 3-4 has its place

It's mainly the style of the 3-4 and the different approaches to coverages stunts and blitzing..The zone blitz is the least used scheme and is the most easily exploited ... Also Teams that are switching back to 3-4's are using smaller quicker players in the box and DB's that can play press and match up zones ..Sub packages are also key to any base Defense and if you invest in LB'S to much your sub packages will include poorer playing DB''S IMO..

Here is a article with some differences pointed out in the new 3-4 and its concepts.https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id...g-top-100-players-2021-season-why-league-best

With the trend moving more towards the passing game a better measuring stick to me is how good a Team is in it's Nickle and Dime packages rather than their rank in a 3-4..IMO we have had and will continue to have problems in those packages until we change our approach to overall roster construction...

You do know why the 3 - 4 zone blitz was designed, and by who???
