Spillane is weak? You haven't seen the play of him pulverizing DEREK HENRY at the goal.line!

I agree - HATE when players do that, really puts their teams in a hard spot. it sucks. that said, Loved you Vince. One of the great unsung 2nd tier players over the years. Hit like a bag of brick - will miss you!

One hit where he had a free 7-yard running start. Watch him on muddy plays, he gets caught up in the wash often, can't shed blockers.

Loved Vincenzo, he played better then a 6th round pick. They also asked him to do some things he shouldn't and couldn't do and that was not his best asset. But was a great tackler, run stuffer and blitzer up the middle. Best of luck in retirement.

I don’t think so, think that’s why he retired as the teams plans came into focus.

My guess is we will hear Avery Williamson being signed any moment to fill the void.

As they should have. Nice run stuffer and could blitz but horrendous coverage skills. That and the fact that they put him in a major disadvantage covering wide receivers. Sometimes this defense is a head scratcher with schemes.

Spillane is solid, has a high motor, can play the run and yes, can cover. Now to get Devin Bush off the ledge and hopefully his knee is not a hinderance.

This sucks. Vince was a good ILB for the Steelers in the mold of Larry Foote. He didn't set the world on fire like Farrior, Timmons, Shazier and hopefully Bush will.... but he was a competent ILB and excellent team leader. He will be missed.

Here ya go boys..Free-agent LB Mychal Kendricks was sentenced today to one day in jail, three years of probation, and 300 hours of community service for his 2018 guilty plea on insider-trading charges. Kendricks is now free to resume his NFL career immediately and he wants to continue playing.

He also came across as a good locker room guy. Had a good sense of humour, like the changing his name to Bince thing.

Our LB Corps is going to look very different this season...

Guess not, they brought back Calvin Bundage. That will make someone here happy, don’t remember who that was, but they were disappointed they let him go.

I worry as they keep saying Marcus Allen is somehow going to be some great solution at middle linebacker.

This is a position of need. Give Avery a call.

    Snap counts:

    Bince: 671
    Spillane: 377
    Williamson: 309

They signed Avery a couple weeks after Bush got hurt.

Right, not the point, tho. Our depth at ILB is shyte now. Vince on run downs would have been better than Spillane.

Maybe they can get creative with Ingram.

not really so and many of us have been over that about vince. he ran up into the line and allowed blockers to handle him a lot. vince guessed a lot and guessed wrong a lot. vince missed a good bit of tackles as well. vince never had a forced fumble in the NFL. vince also talked about how spillane would eat blockers for him to make tackles as you talked about spillane getting caught in the wash. well that was by design. one would help free up the other for the tackle. even the coaches have said spillane was ready as of last year. he's better then you are giving him credit for. vince wasn't as good as most give credit to. vince never hit 100 tackles in any NFL season. show me another starting LB that hasn't done that in a career. vince was OK as depth but should have never been the starter and then relied on for coverage duties. they have been hunting for that duel threat LB for awhile now. trying to have that at both spots. this may be the year. hopefully.
