If that's the structure, that's a pretty good deal for the team. Really, any structure with only 7 of the 27 guaranteed is pretty good.

Agreed. Especially if the 7 guaranteed is ALL guaranteed salary this year, meaning, they could walk away next year with no dead cap (of course we all prefer he played like a #1, and we'll gladly pay the 10 per

    So what happens tomorrow night?

Do Cockrell and Sensabaugh start? Best man wins a roster spot? :lolol:

    Yea, basically.

Sensabaugh's edge is that he can play outside and inside

Cockrell's edge is his 2016 tape playing outside

Sensabaugh's additional edge is that he has 2 years at affordable vet salary (Could replace Gay next year in slot)

Cockrell's downside is that he's a pending UFA that we are unlikely to pay

Im betting Cockrell is done as a Steeler, and will be playing for the Titans in 2 weeks.

    What being missed is-

1- he plays man, Ross can't
2- he's a solid experienced Pro-bowler in the locker room with some young talent to mentor like Burns and Sutton and Hilton and Allen
3- High Character on and off the field and solid worker in the community.
4- Deal looks to be team friendly short term.
5-directly addressed our weakest part of the roster. Doesn't make it now the strongest but upgrades it non the less.

But... but... the Steelers don't value the cornerback position?!?!? Whaaaaaaaaaaaa

    Lol

I dig it. We saw someone that could help fill our biggest starting positional need and took advantage of it. What's not to like about it? Let's go get #7.

    Good question.

Bell was already baked in at 12.1 this year, and they had about 8.9 in cap space when looking at the top 51 + dead space.

This definitely means that they will be looking to trim in some spots

    D.Johnson to J.McGee would save about 300k
McCullers to Hooks would save about 200k
    K.Davis to T.Watson would save about 150k
Cockrell to Sensabaugh would save about 900k

I'd rather keep veteran backups, proven special teams contributors... this year is about winning, those guys help you win, even when it goes unnoticed.

    We'll save 500k cutting Golson.
There's no space for "prospects" this year, super bowl or bust.

wow was a bolstering move. Looks like he wants to win. He apparently took less money too.

    I'm a bit shocked/Stunned in a good way.

Anyone else as excited as i am?

Great deal. Browns paying in $4 million this year. Fans act like $7 million is a lot of money. It is.
But not when receivers earn $12 million. Plus, I love Teams that wanna win. Good results or bad, Cowboys, Patriots, teams that don't let a draft choice trade or salary stop them from getting better.

I don't think that the Browns are on the hook for the $4 mil now.

Please don't use "Bell" and "baked" in the same sentence.

I expect they'll cut McCullers, K. Davis and Sensabaugh.

I'll bet that Ben is the happiest person on the team. He's been a thorn in Roethisberger's side for quite some time now.

They can next year if 14.55 is "affordable". Then he can see if he is worth 17.
