This guy was pretty good last night...it kills me that we didn't even give him a try out....I know he had off-field issues...but so did Rainey...what gives?

I'll give it to you Hack, you were right on this one..still think you are wrong about Limas Sweed....ha..ha..

Rainey had off the field issues? Maybe you mean Mike Adams.

Oh I must have missed that. Rainey seems like a good guy.

What I can't figure out is why he refused to run the 40 yard dash at his pro day. But, he looks like a great player for the Bengals, not glad we get to play against him twice a year.

:lolol: Good point. That's two guys right there. Burfict appeared weak and slow and stupid all throughout the draft process, and didn't look that great on the field the year before, but we all knew he at least had the potential to be a great player if he ever got his stuff together. Yeah, he could have been terrible, he could have wound up in jail, he could have never made it on a practice squad. But you could say that about almost any 7th round draft pick. It's not really a bust if it's in the 7th round. And with four 7th rounders? I'm with Hack, it was worth a flyer. We had space on the roster for him, even after picking Spence. Not picking him seems like some kind of statement. But I don't get what it is, after picking Adams and Rainey. Yeah those guys had already come back from their problems and Burfict hadn't, but still... 7th round, great potential... you KNOW you're not going to keep all your 7th rounders anyway... stupid move.

Burfict is a Bengal and therefore is still subject to off-field incidents at any given time.

Burfict had 15 tackles last night...13 solo....

First round talent....dropped dropped dropped......no reason not to take him at a position of need in the 7th round.

He cuts just as easy as Clemons and Frederick did...but had 10 times the upside.

and I'll say this about Limas Sweed.....he has less drops in his career than Mike Wallace had against the Bengals......its all about getting opportunities.....When he dropped one...BA put him on the bench......they kept feeding Wallace.

Strongly agree on both points. Sweed could get open better and easier than any receiver on the Steelers I could remember, pre-Wallace. Yeah he dropped some. He was obviously a little shaky in the head. There's one way to get through that, and it's not sitting on the bench for 97% of the season. They were willing to invest a high draft pick on him, but not time on the field. Why? Because we had to get... NATE WASHINGTON on the field??? Drops McGee Nate Washington?

    Stupid.

i would have took burfict in the seven no way you leave a potential 1rd pick on the table in the 7rd , but let's put like this ,for a mlb we need a scheme caller and burfict can't do it , i'm just finding something to not be angry :frustrated:

nate washington is still making plays in the NFL the last time i checked. limas, not so much. i'm not seeing much of an argument here. we did right in getting rid of limas. nate has done alright for himself after here.

sorry about highjacking this burfict love thread. what seems lost to me is our LB'ers looked pretty good last night too.

Limas Sweed had 3 drops in his career.....2 were for "easy" TD's and thats why people hate him......but he just never got the snaps.....I would still bring him in.....I would bring him in over Cotchery to be honest.....easily over Clemons and company.

Cotchery has 3 catches this year...and 19 since he signed with us......I think Sweed could provide those type of numbers...and play ST.

I definitely would not have drafted him early due to all the red flags about him, but taking a flyer on a guy as a UDFA is a no brainer.

Yup, unfortunately Burfict ran the negative press train right out of the draft. The dude can play football. The question is, can he keep his head straight. Time will tell on that one, but based on performance, 31 other teams made a big mistake.

Yeah right like the Steelers need a head case like Burfict I watched him play in college, he would get like 2 or 3 personal foul penalties a game. Also got in a fight with a teammate and ran like 5.0 40yd dash that's why he went undrafted.

If getting dry humped is what makes you not want a player you must want Ben gone ASAP
