He needs to go. I know he had a couple of nice returns before the fumble, but he just can't be trusted to hold on to the ball. That's job No. 1 for a return man.

 

The better question is why isn't Desmond King returning?!

I remember when you can tell Hines Ward or Troy P was injured and close to retirement. The game seemed to be quicker than PP right now but maybe he is injured?

 

For me, Patrick Peterson is being screwed by both Austin and Tomlin for the simple fact they are not playing Joey Porter Jr more. Yes, JPJ is playing but on a very limited basis... third downs. Today though was a major step in the right direction for Peezy Jr. Peezy Jr though only needed this moment to showcase what many of us knew about him coming into the season.


Tomlin and Austin both need to realize that JPJs clutch moment against a major division rival in a pivotal game is confirmation that JPJ MUST be inserted into the lineup. Patrick Peterson was brought here to be the chess piece of the defense. Thus far though, this has not worked out. Hopefully the bye week can assist in making this plan into a common occurrence.

 

You think PP can be a serviceable slot corner or safety? I dont get how all of a sudden the wheels come off like that. I was stoked that he was to be a Steeler but game film is only going to exploit him as teams prepare.

Slot Corners need to be more quick than fast. I don't have too much of an issue with Patrick Peterson in this regard. However, why I would propose him to move to Safety is simple; Pittsburgh has a Slot CB named Desmond King II who has been seemingly rotting in the same vein as Peezy Jr has.


For that matter, getting creative with P2 as a Safety is something I do hope both Tomlin and Austin can do during the bye week. Given how both had discussed the possibilities of it, showcasing it even some during Preseason, I would hope that it could be happening sooner rather than later.

 

Yet, there he is. In the NFL.

I think Peterson was brought in to be our slot/nickel corner. They weren’t planning on him play so much on the outside.

They probably were hoping Pierre would be the other outside guy, but he regressed.

 

Gunner needs to stick to his namesake and play just gunner.

Why did Calvin Austin lose his punt return job this week?

Was this part of Tomlin's big shakeup to give the punt return duties to Gunner and shock the world?

 

He was injured and left the game in the second quarter.

 

Yeah he does….How is he on the team??? My son can do what Dummer does…I’m just saying , kid brings nothing to the table. I’m sure we could find a better person to fill that spot…

 

Yes, I know I posted too soon on Sunday when I said he cost us the game - I should know better - I was just cornfigulated.

but it does not make Gunner any better. I am sure he is trying his best. But - it is a tough world in the NFL. He still can not be allowed to touch the ball.

 

I remember when we went through a period with Cowher too where we coudn't find a PR that I just wanted them to fair catch every one because either we were a fumble machine or the automatic hold on us would put us 1st down on the 5, 10 or 15 , etc. We always were starting in the hole. With som many PR's in college how can we not find one f'ing guy to fullfill this duty, its amazing. I remember when growing up KC always had lights out special teams and ours always was a disaster waiting to happen.

 

Thing that pisses me off the most is his name. Somebody with that first name should never have been aloud into the Burgh unless he was great.

Bob Prince, beloved announcer of the Pirates (when they were a MLB club) was nicknamed, "The Gunner".

 

i expected more from Robinson - is he done or is this again a case of Canada and poor coaching?
