So if a team decided to wear hot pink, you'd be ok with that? :lolol: You may not like the blue for boys and pink for girls but that's just the way it is, been that way for as long as I can remember, starts in infancy, baby boys get the blue room and baby girls got the pink. I don't think all the uniform changes are for "manly" reasons, I certainly didn't find the old Broncos uniforms wimpy, the orange crush ones but I like the new ones a whole lot better, the Bronco on the helmet too, I think they hit a home run with that redesign. I don't like the Saints new uniforms and they are about as dark as you can get and didn't find anything wimpy about their old ones. I think NE's new one are better then the old, not all changes are bad. If I was a fan of those teams I'd probably feel differently, I'd **** if the Steelers did a major revamp of theirs. Back to the Chargers, maybe memory is failing me but I don't remember them having powder blues in the 70's and 80's, I thought their original colors were the dark blue ones and their away white ones. I thought the powder blues were new.

I thought the powder blues were throwbacks from the 60s or something, and they stuck because people like them so much (like the 49ers throwbacks stuck).

I wouldn't say the color gender thing is "how it is." I'd say it's how people make it. Colors are colors. Pink only seems girly or wimpy because we've been conditioned to think that by society. I realize I'm sounding like a hippie, but it's still 100% true. There's nothing natural or sensical about that line of thinking. You said yourself, it starts in infancy in the baby rooms. There's no escape from falling into that belief; your only chance is to fall out of it. If I ever have babies they will be given all colors. :smiley1:

"Wimpy" probably isn't the right word for a lot of the uniform changes, but I definitely think that the teams I named changed their uniforms to try and make them tougher-looking. I don't like that they further color stereotypes, but I can't say I'm surprised either. What really gets me is that they seemed to go out of their way to make them even worse. Society already deemed the old Bucs uniforms as wimpy, so I don't blame them as much for that. And at least Denver made drastic changes in addition to the color, like the logo (I hate those uniforms, but mostly because they are just plain ugly to me). But the Eagles, Bills, Rams, and Seahawks? They took the colors green and blue and decided they needed to become tougher. Dark green and Dark blue. Now regular colors like this and this are weak?

Eh, just one of those things about the world that irks the hell out of me.

I love the creamsicle Bucs jersey. Even though pewter is an oft used color, I just prefer my jerseys to be bright and colorful. Hell, I even liked that Seahawks lime green alt they had a couple years back. As Snack said, to each his own I guess

The 49ers throwbacks are SWEET! I also like the old school Redskins uniforms too. I also like the Eagles uniforms from the Randall Cunningham years. I really like for a uniform to be sorta simple when it's all said and done.

Nope loved the lime green Seahawks stuff!

There are teams that can pull it off and there are teams that don't even need to try.

    I liked the orange Bucs.

Though as I've said before, it's basically the 80s uniforms that I really liked. So it's probably a mixture of nostalgia (the mid-80s was when I first started watching the game) and taste (or lack thereof). When San Fran made that pointless change in the 90s, it was a sad day - glad they've reverted since.

Same with the Broncos - vastly preferred the orange jerseys.

When I think about it, the Seahawks luminous uniforms are one of the few of the present era I prefer.

I love the Bucs creamsicle jersies too! And I think the Seahawks have one of the best uniforms in football (the current one). I love our uniforms but I also think the Raven's uni's are pretty cool too.

Of course, this wouldn't be so close, if we still had block-style numbers!

I, too, liked the original Bucs colors. For that matter, I liked their original logo and that of the Patriots much better.
As for the Choker's powder blues, The tux I wore at my 1st wedding in the late 70s was powder blue and that turned out to be a disaster! Very popular color at the time though.

Wow seriously? those purple uniforms blew out the B&G by 40k votes? I just looked a few hours ago and they were still at 60k now they're over 80K! WTF? HATERS!!??

It doesn't help that it's their uniform on the main pages and they over shaded and shadowed it to make it look more appealing than it does in normal lighting.

Being highly biased, I think this is a function of two things: 1) A lot of people hate the Steelers because of their success. They aren't going to vote for anything Steeler related. 2) Baltimore just won. It's fresh in people's minds and easy to jump on the band wagon.

Other than the Steeler block letter uniforms, I like the Bears.

Agree! That's one thing that initially caught my eye and put me on the road to being a die-hard Steelers fan in the mid-70s, the Black & Gold uniforms. When I realized those guys wearing them were pretty darn good football players all the better! :towel:

How many times, when we have the "Why did you become a Steeler Fan?" thread in the offseason, do NUMEROUS people say, "`Cause the uniforms looked cool, when I first started watching the game"?...
Yep... They looked good, and played GREAT!!!:herewego:
GO STEELERS!!! We ALL know who has the best uniform, no matter what some stupid polll on NFL. com... says!!!

The uniform was also something that made me like them too. I just think that overall the Chargers have the neatest 'looking' one. Specifically I mean the powder blue ones. The cool thing about our uniforms is that I think they are simple but yet bold. There's nothing really fancy about them but they still carry an heir of intimidation about them. The black ones anyway. I don't like the away jerseys as much and I'm sure most people feel that way don't they? As a matter of fact, I don't think I would ever buy an away one. I love the BLACK and gold.
