Gradkowski To Injured Reserve

    The Steelers will place Gradkowski on the reserved/injured list, thus ending his season. Tomlin mentioned that his finger may end up needing another surgery, and Bouchette said he re-injured his shoulder on Sunday. It's the final year of his contract, so it could perhaps end his career as a Steeler.

    Seems like it has about the same result as cutting him except he still gets paid, right? Why wouldn't they just cut him?

    Maybe on the cap hit. Not sure how that would impact the team his year. As I understood it, Bruce was in the last year of contract so would have to be resigned next season anyway. I don't think we have to worry about anybody snatching him away being injured.

    They can negotiate an injury settlement and cut a player, that can usually happen in pre-season if that player isnt expected to make the roster, but going on IR means that player will draw his full contracted salary for the year, where as an injury settlement is only going to pay him an agreed amount between his agent and the team and releases the team from all future compensation other than medical expenses..........
