I agree. The only reason some people still believe imo is because our secondary unit is the absolute worst in the league, and their hoping for a miracle.

But realistically, he's toast. At least this year. They may throw 'em on IR and carry his ass one more season since they are so terrible.

Does it make me weird that I actually understand what Mac is getting at and understand the four years in respect to football seasons played? If you look at his Sr year as 1 season or year then look at his rookie year with the Steelers as year two and then last year as year three, this upcoming season would indeed be year four or season four since his Sr. season but still only his third year since playing any meaningful football.

His lack of play has really stunted our secondary. He was a 2nd rounder.
Can't miss on the the ones and two's. It was not Steelers fault. Although
when I am evaluating players and am going to invest a lot of money in said player
I think I would need to do some more scouting ,talking to people. Get a history of the said player
and only after all this research pull the trigger.

    You both suck at math.

No, that would be you and Diamond.

Mac and Jeh are the same age as dirt.

Then he will probably be signed by New England and become a Pro Bowl CB.

He can be placed on practice squad one more year right?

I think the question is will Steelers even bother? And to be honest I WOULD. This guys was touted as a potential 1st rounder. If they can make it happen I think it is worth a chance to sign him to the PS.

You know you're old when your wife says "honey let's run upstairs and make love" and your response is "I can not do both". LOL! My mentor just recently died at 92 years old and he said "a lot of people say it's good to be here but I say when you get my age it's good to be ANYwhere". HA!

Coach T blunt when asked about his evaluation of Golson:

    "There is nothing to evaluate."

There really is no down side to putting him on I/R and cutting him later. When he recovers from this latest injury, he can return from I/R. If they don't think he can make a contribution this year, then cut him loose at that time. As long as there is a possibility for him to play, I wouldn't cut him . . . yet. I wouldn't carry him on I/R for the entire season, though.

It shouldn't be surprising. Some fans think that anything outside of the top 5 is the worst in the league. I think 12th may be a bit high, but the fans suggesting that we have the worst secondary in the league are biased against our secondary because it's the weakest part of our defense, and because it was the most easily visible contributor to a complete breakdown of the defense in the AFCCG. In reality it's an average secondary. Not garbage, but probably not going to be the primary reason for our success.

Sometimes I wonder if our thinking that the secondary "used" to be good isn't us just mistaking the fact that "TROY" was good and they also benefited from a great front and backers as well? I mean Ryan Clark was solid but not a true all star. Ike was very serviceable but it wasn't like we had a great tandem on the corners. When I think of what our secondary was in our years of recent dominance I think of one Troy Polamalu doing complete feats of impossible athleticism that we will never forget. I know Ryan Clark could light somebody up but when I think of our secondary from about a decade ago I think of Troy blowing all of our minds. I wouldn't want to be Mike Mitchell for one reason alone and that is because who in the world could follow Troy and ever live up to that standard?
