true old school. alot depends on essex ,foster, gilbert and colon. alot depends on legursky's shoulder. alot depends on how well decastro and adams play against an NFL defense. this isn't ohio state and stanford. none of them have played against competition this good before. they have been reluctant in the past starting rookies. not to many have started here over the years. i'm not saying they won't but like i said before these vets want to start too, and they are not going to make it easy on anyone. if i had to guess though, i'd say ...adams,foster,pouncey,decastro, gilbert and roll with it. i don't think they are going to worry about colon's 29 million over protecting 102 million.

DeCastro IMO will stay on at RG.

Adams may just be like a kid in elementary school, if you don't keep them challenged, they get bored and get lazy. Let's push him and see how he reacts. I would rather know this year that he isn't going to survive the NFL than after another draft.

To me if Starks is healthy, we know our Oline roster, positions maybe not, but roster...yes. Starks being healthy also allows you to experiment with Colon at guard really early in the process as you can put Gilbert at RT and let Starks push Adams for the LT spot.

    Adams
    Gilbert
    Starks
    Colon
    Essex
    Pouncey
    Legursky
    Foster
    DeCastro

So you think Starks is going to be 100% ready to go, signed and given the starting spot within the next 2 months? Interesting. I definitely want him back (to replace J Scott)...

I think we are pretty well set at 8 or the positions...9 if Starks is healthy.

That being said, they need to make a choice about what to do with the non-starting tackle quickly. That choice combined with the play of Legursky and Foster, will impact what happens on the line.

First, Players set in stone. Pouncey and DeCastro. Those 2 guys will start. For now we will assume only that we will have 2 guards and that DeCastro is ONE of them. Which one is irrelevant to the discussion.

    Second...scenarios as I see them:

    A. Adams shows he is not ready to Start.

If you assume this, you then end up with Gilbert, Colon, and Legursky or Foster.

    B. Adams show he is ready to Start.

You get Adams and Gilbert as Tackles and Colon as a guard.
or Adams and Colon as Tackles and Gilbert as a guard.
or Adams with one of Colon or Gilbert as Tackles and Legursky or Foster as the 2nd guard.

Those to me are the only options. The only way that Starks comes into the mix is if they determine quickly in camp that Gilbert cannot play LT and that Adams isn't ready to start. THEN you have Starks in the mix. Even then it leaves you with the question of...what do we do with Colon.

i think the only for sure's are decastro, pouncey, adams, foster, gilbert, for making the team.
one of essex, legursky, malecki, beachum at backup center, which is a must have.
from then on it's every man for himself.
if they keep colon, he will have to learn a new spot to go along with right tackle, because the only reason to keep him right now would be his salary. this then would strap us down from keeping a player with more versatility. he either starts, learns a new spot or gets cut.
i've seen turner mentioned as a possible swing tackle.
    j.scott i thinks a long shot.
    c.scott same as above.
    lee? to slow.
    stapleton.. already gone failed physical.
starks? i'll believe it when i see it, but we keep his phone number.
we then give kuglar the same respect we give carnell, we cut the baggage. give him good young players to work with and trust he can make them starters.

I love the idea of having Starks back in the mix as temp starter or back up tackle. Now the his contract is sane he's a major asset.

PROVIDED his ACL is near 100%. And I mean 95% or better. If not, I don't know what to think.

Why are we talking about Hampton coming back, possibly Starks, but no Mendenhall? I just saw on NFL network ghat A. Peterson thinks he'll be 100% by game 2.

All hurt the same ligament late in the season, but we have different expectentations on returns. Why?

OS,i think mendy had a complete reconstruction of two diffrent ones. ACL and MCL i thought. i believe this is what i had heard. i think he's close to done here. i hope not i like him. i'm just not sure if he'll be the same player. he was quick and fast for his size with good acceleration. not sure after this. contract coming up too? we have alot of talent at RB right now. maybe not like he was but maybe like he will now be.

as far as casey and max, i think it's wishful thinking that they are healthy enough. these are two large athletes that are 30 and 30 something. they need their legs.

Beachum could be a really effective guard but I think that he needs a year on the PS.

he's got alot of learning to do because they will want him to learn the center spot too. he's got the smarts to do it and the talent to be a complete mix of essex and legursky. that's a 2 fer. kugler will have his hands full early with the line battles, but we got that guy from duke that was a line coach there. he's the offensive assistant/quality control guy. he could help out with development of these newbies also.
