What's your O-line on gameday? Give me 5 starters and 3 on the bench. Mine is:
LT- Mike Adams * I believe he impresses so much he starts the 1st game.
LG- Willie Colon * A move to guard cures all ills for Willie.
C- Maurkice Pouncey * Just stay healthy and All-Pro awaits.
RG- David DeCastro * STUD, nuff said.
RT- Marcus Gilbert * Prototype RT that will be a cog in the O-line for a long time.
Max Starks- swing T * valuable T that has played both sides well. Mentor for Adams?
Ramon Foster- RG,LG,RT * versatile player that started games and played well.
Trai Essex- C,RG,LG,T * macdaddyo convinced me on this one. Need that b/u C and Legursky is coming off injury.

    Thoughts?

I feel like I'm 90% sure this is what it will be without injury (the 10% is maybe DeCastro starts on the right).

    LT: Marcus Gilbert
    LG: David DeCastro
    C: Maurkice Pouncey
    RG: Ramon Foster
    RT: Willie Colon

    Mike Adams, OT
    Max Starks, OT
    Trai Essex, OT/G
    Doug Legurskey, OG/C

I think there's no way Adams starts from day 1 unless there's an injury. If it's close the nod will go to the guy who's been here a year and has starting experience.

I think the Steelers are going to be very careful with Adams. He's had issues with laziness and his technique... I wouldn't think they'd want to hand him the keys too quickly... because they don't want him to get complacent.

I like Starks as the swing tackle because of his experience. He is definitely an upgrade over J scott.

I'm not sure what is going to happen though because his injury prevent him from being ready before the beginning of the season.

I think adams will impress everyone. I have adams-decastro-pouncey-colon-gilbert. I think decastro is a better athlete than colon and pulls better is why I think he will be left guard.

I think they will do the opposite.....IMO he will show well in camp and they will push him to do more.....I think they are more worried about his off field stuff ,because on tape he is a top notch LT when he does the work....So if he is doing the work in camp and I think he will he will be the starter...

i agree with this starting lineup. I don't think Adams will be ready for the LT or RT duties.

    LT - Gilbert
    LG - Legs
    C- Pouncey
    RG - DeCastro
    RT - Colon

I put Legs in at LG over Foster because Legs is more of an athelete and pulls better than Foster. Backups will be Adams, Foster, Essex, and unfortunately probably Jon Scott.. For 2013 it will be Adams, DeCastro, Pouncey, Colon, Gilbert from left to right i think...

I don't know why you all keep insisting on moving Decastro to the left side. This is like the discussion I had with you all about Pouncey to guard. You told me I was crazy you don't move an all pro even if it make our line better. Decastro is a stud at right guard it's where he plays what he comfortable with why mess it up.

    My starting line up

    Gilbert - Foster - Pouncey - Decastro - Colon

with the hope it actually turns out to be

Adams - Gilbert - Pouncey - Decastro - Colon or switch colon and Gilbert.

This is exactly what I am hopeing for and if its not this in game one it will be before the end of the season.

I hope D. Johnson gets cut and legs gets swing o-line/full back duties and Saunders and the new draft TE make thw roster...

We will go from one of the worst lines to one of the best very quick.

The season can't start soon enough!

Who is going to be the new vocal leader of this squad? We desperately need that with our vet captains gone.

If I'm coach, this is it on day one of training camp:

    Gilbert - Foster - Pouncey - DeCastro - Colon

But I am getting both Gilbert and Colon additional reps at guard, and trying DeCastro out on the left side now and then... My ultimate goal that I am working toward is:

    Adams - DeCastro - Pouncey - Gilbert/Colon - Colon/Gilbert

I think that's how the shift will go. Whether that shift happens in training camp or half way through the season or next year depends on when Mike Adams is ready.

The point of this post was to see potential combinations for the O-line this coming season. The conclusion that I draw from the responses is that regardless of the combination put on the field our talent level on the O-line is greatly improved. I can't wait for TC to start.

I can see this happening. I'm not clear on who's the better out of Legursky and Foster. Either one could bring something to camp this year (and given the investment in the o-line, it would make sense for them to try and step up now).

I agree with being cautious about Adams starting from day 1. Maybe he does surprise us in camp, but I think I would rather he develops into a starter rather than being thrown in, makes a few rookies mistakes, these then get blamed on his past, cue huge argument about whether he should have been drafted, etc. etc.

I think Foster is definitely better than Legs. I think Foster has potential to be a pretty good (not great) starting guard. Legs is a great swingman backup, but not starter material.

    Interesting idea :hmmm:

Legs has seen some limited time at FB technically (bronco package) and this may be an interesting move. I especially like the idea of getting rid of D Johnson though. :applaud:

mac you just made me throwup in my mouth a bit. I hope you're thinking it's for show because Essex over DeCastro is laughable if it's not due to typical Steeler rookie treatment.

Hit some technical difficulties which are slowing me down. All the grading is finished, I just have to get it up. Hopefully within a week.

    Camp:
LT: Starks LG: Legursky C: Pouncey RG: Decastro RT: Colon

    Season Opener:
LT: Adams LG: Legursky C: Pouncey RG: Decastro RT: Gilbert

Make the two young tackles hungry, humble, and earn the positions. Legursky comes to camp this year even more improved. Starks, Essex, and Foster are the backups. Colon is traded if he cannot beat Gilbert or play guard.

i just think when they start camp essex gets the vet nod at LG. he has always played better on the left side. foster is the starter on the right side as of earning it last year. he played pretty well. this will change but day one i'm thinking this is it. legursky, may not be quite ready to go and max , even if he's here won't be either. decastro and adams and beachum and malecki and turner will all get reps. they will interchange people. kuglar wants the best combo. these guys will first show the rooks how. i would. i wouldn't hand it to the rookies day one. 1st round or not , they have done nothing in this league yet. ya gotta earn your keep. these vets want to start too. create competition and they will all work harder.

I don't think it's going to take long for DeCastro to seperate. The talent level isn't even close.

I don't think you'll get too many people who would argue this mentality, but the thread title says GAME day o-line.
