No such thing as a vastly inferior opponent at the professional level. Every team has the talent to beat you if you execute and play well. Preparation plays a role but ultimately the game boils down to execution by the players.

Okay, saying "vastly inferior" wasn't accurate.

Here's the point. Both teams have professional athletes to execute a gameplan. It's not the talent on the field that tips the scales. Just look at the Pats. When a team is executing at a higher level than another and the potential outcome heavily favors one over the other, it is because one team is being coached better.

Sure, the players need to execute, but they need to execute THE COACH'S GAMEPLAN.

Hand pick your absolute studliest team and if they are told to play with their backs to the ball, they won't be successful, no matter how talented. It comes down to coaching.

Another inaccuracy. Talent on the field can tip the scales.

The Pats are an anomaly. With out Bradys talent where would they be?

Coaching in the NFL is generally good. Game plans are generally good from week to week. Games generlly boil down to execution by payers. Even the Pats BB said so himself. You disagree with him?

I live among the eagle faithful which makes my favorite team the STEELERS and whoever is playing the eagles. I did enjoy the supermarket today. They play the eagle fight song on game days and there were some young Cowgirls fans in there and they drowned the song out.

Belichick is going to go down in history as the greatest coach. 6 Super Bowl wins, 3 loses. 9 total. One coach. He runs the show from top down. He makes the plan in all phases, and gets assistants they fit his plan. And they execute like no other team. And don't put up with BS. They also make in game adjustments. On the fly. He is a student of the game and idolizes the great Chuck Noll. Without Brady he still has won. Not a Super Bowl but has won. He would win one without Brady and will get the chance i'm sure.

Although it pains me to give kudos to this team i'm also a realist and an NFL fan.

    Side note:

We also need a QB with ice in his veins to face Brady. Ben is not that QB, sorry. He is to enamored. Rudolph maybe...

We don't have to like what NE has accomplished but as a fan of the game it should be respected. BB is a great coach. His legacy is a bit tainted with the cheating.

Brady made a lot of clutch plays when that team needed. It's doubtful that BB will have the same level of success without Brady.
That's what typically happens when coaches lose great QB's/players.

It makes me scratch my head when people can only point to BB when measuring Tomlin.

He is still considered one of the best or the best HCs in NFL history

He did go 11-5 with Matt Cassell. That would be like Tomlin going 11-5 with Landry Jones....never happen.

The goal in professional sports is to win championships. Not just “never have a losing record” . Shouldn’t you always compare someone to the best. Obviously he will never be BB but there’s plenty of room to try and close the gap.

People like to say this or that will never happen and when it does then what? Never say never.

It's unfair to compare any coach to what BB helped NE accomplished. Everyone would be considered a failure. Sorry but I don't believe every coach that falls short of what BB helped NE accomplish a failure. Coaches don't need to have as much success as BB to be considered good or great coaches.

We have a highly successful winning coach in Pittsburgh. Especially when compared to the other coaches that fall short of BB in this age of football. It's unfortunate that some of you don't seem to realize it. Tomlin's story is still being written.

My enjoyment of sports doesn't simply come from championships. Fans set themselves up for disappointment, misery, and (my favorite) constant complaining thinking that way.

To each his own. I’m championship or bust. Disappointment, misery ,complaining? This is a forum for fans last time i checked. None of us would have a place to call home without various forms of disagreement. The people that complain about fans complaining while thinking everything is hunky dory when it isn’t...does that make them a better fan?

Well it's sad to be you with your championship or bust mentality. You rarely have a satisfying football experience. Quit illogical to have that mentality. My suggestion is for you to evolve or you will continue to live with disappointment like 89% of the time. Seek enjoyment in the other aspects of the game.

People who can support the team, have rational discussions, and understand without the constant complaining are probably the better fans.

I find satisfaction in my life . Sports is a outlet and entertainment. It’s “fantasy’ sports as far as I’m concerned. So I will choose to voice my opinions in the way I choose. I don’t think it’s rational either to deny what your own eyes are telling you. I just won’t blindly support the team so I can have a satisfying football experience. I knew you were the “better” fan type. Spare me the Dr. Phil psychobabble BS.

Dolphins are gonna win. Fitzpatrick throws for 6TDs.... Rudolph 5 TDs. Final score 55-51.

Teams like Miami are like defective land mines. Teams walk all over them week after week, but eventually they blow up on somebody. Hard to see it next Monday night, but in the NFL anything is possible

I wasn't talking about your life brother.

I don't deny anything but I understand that it is irrational to have a championship or bust mentality.

There are other aspects of this team to enjoy and focus on. For example the development and growth of players on the team. It's also comforting as a fan that this team has shown improvement and isn't getting blown out on a weekly basis. I don't expect the coaches and players to be comfortable with the improvements and losing close games but the team was close to winning the games they loss. They need to find ways to win. The other good things during the journey of the season.

Some fans won't recognize improvements because of disappoinment or hate directed at the coaches or because.

Whatever floats your boat. Sorry for trying to bring something positive and perspective to your Steelers experience.

They gave the Bills hell yesterday. They had an untimely turnover that sealed the deal for the Bills to win.

Two major concerns are the loss of Tuitt and how will Mason play.

I don’t think it’s irrational at all. It’s just a different set of expectations. Some may say it’s irrational to see obvious things that are wrong and gloss over everything and be satisfied with the status quo. It’s also irrational to dismiss all the past failures and wipe the slate clean every year.
I’m actually enjoying this season because the expectations are low and watching guys develop. The problem for me is I’ve seen what Tomlin can do with talent. Why should I have any hope he’s the right HC to get more out of less. How many more years does he get to try and stockpile talent again and become a legitimate contender? I’ve been watching football for over 40 yrs . I don’t need anyone to improve my experience.

Come on man don't you know when you come to a message board and don't agree with someone you are a disappointment, or just not a good of a fan as them? We all need to sit around and praise the HC for the standard being the standard and not have a losing season. Geez don't disagree or want more from your team or even better yet talk about change cause that makes you a bad fan, you are just suppose to.......

There's always something wrong. If that's where you place your focus so be it.

I hope the Steelers can compete for and win the Superbowl every year. I also realize that they only won the Superbowl 11% of the time. So they failed the overwhelming majority of the time to reach that goal. They may never win another championship in our lifetimes. That's how difficult it is to win the Superbowl.

I've seen what Tomlin can do with talent ie help the team win a lot of games, make the playoffs 8 of 12 years, make it to 3 afc championship games, 2 Superbowls, and won one. The team compete hard to be in the playoffs almost every season with Tomlin as HC. That's why he's still the HC.

You acting like Tomlin is coaching a losing team year in and year out.

It's ok you can continue to place your focus on the negatives. The people that matter see it similar to the way I view it up to this point. Carry on bro.

An anomaly is 1 season out of 10. The patriots have a QB that doesn't make mistakes and is as efficient running their offense as anyone who has ever played the game. Brady has had many different casts of players around him but always seems to win. Also worth noting a QB cannot win it by himself no matter how good he is. Bellicheat has won with out Brady btw (cassell and Garo) but Obviously Brady is arguably the best QB ever. That said Bellicheat just needs an above avg QB to win more than he loses.

Good coaches know how to get the most out of their players and now how to minimize mistakes. Good coaches know how to prepare the players so the level of execution is high. If you have played football on a bad team and played on a good team you know the #1 trait of a good coach is the ability to prepare his players to execute. A team full of players that does not execute is a poorly coached team - PERIOD.

Fitzpatrick had his typical game yesterday. He was having a good game until he threw a killer interception on the 2 yard line just as the Dolphins were going to be up 2 TD's. The Bills then marched 98 yards to take a one point lead that they never gave up.

The only reason Miami makes us nervous is because of Mike's history of losing to really bad teams. duh
