The numbers you are referring to left out the interception and the fumble, both of which were awful plays by Jones. I fear he would be a turnover machine if he ever started for any length of time.

For his first game this season, is that really so horrible?

I have no idea if hed be a turnover machine or not but people need to recognize he does not get regular snaps when passing judgment on him.

Those were some very ugly mistakes. The Browns' defense was awful today. Despite all the blitzing, their sacks came on two bad snaps and the one Jones fumbled. They also give way too much cushion. They made life very easy for the Steelers' receivers.

No doubt, but Roethlisberger is good enough to overcome the mistakes. Jones is not. He's fine as a backup, but that's all he is.

I don’t think anyone expects him to be more than that. The issue is more people going out of their way to say he’s awful.

It’s the William Gay Syndrome. There are some that develop a preconceived opinion of a player’s ability and nothing short of a Christmas miracle will change that opinion.

The awful play was by our o-line getting abused. Granted we had a backup or two in there and a backup to a backup, but that fumble was hardly on Jones.

And we kept him on the roster....instead of James Harrison.....
