Ok here is the elephant in the room, they have had some solid OL work the last few weeks, now I know Tomlin is big on not losing your starting spot due to injury but do you shake things up by putting Gilbert back into the line-up? DO you leave Adams in there? Some solid run blocking by TE's OL and hey hey hey Will J. Do you mess with that?

Huge game ball for the run game and Bell

I think Adams will sit when Gilbert is back.

And I think that will be a huge mistake.

An O-Line is more than the sum of its parts. It doesn't matter if man for man Gilbert is better than Adams. What matters is the WHOLE LINE is better when Adams is in.

I'm not a Gilbert fan but I think he gets the nod because he gets the paycheck. Batch was saying today that Mitchell is basically horrible but he's gonna be on the field because of what he is making. I don't think Adams OR Gilbert are really worldbeaters though.

With two TEs and DeCastro bringing the nasty from the other side. I wonder if they must have seen something on film that made them salivate or something? It sure seemed like it.

Actually Adams was the only person with a penalty today if I'm not mistaken. Although I thought it was a bad call.

That sounds like a nice philosophy, but come on. If Jon Scott makes a start and Bell runs for 300, do you keep Scott in, no matter how he played? If we only allow 60 rushing yards and Cam Thomas was starting, do we keep him in, no matter how he played?

Chemistry is a legitimate thing, but Gilbert has good chemistry with the only man next to him, DeCastro, and he's better than Adams. Furthermore, even though I trust Adams in the run game (I don't trust him in the passing game), I don't think he had much to do with today's running dominance. I haven't reviewed the game and I don't think he played badly, but it seemed to me like all of those runs by Bell that were set up with good blocking went to the left side, and it was the other 4 OL + TE + FB + Bell himself making it happen.

How can you say that? Because they had one great game running away from Adams? If everything just fell to pieces with Gilbert in the game - missed assignments, blown stunts, confusion with the QB - I'd take your point. But it's not like that. They were fine with him in, and he performed better than Adams. A strong game as a unit while he's out means nothing.

I will say I'm relatively pleased with Adams' performances in relief this year. Big step up from last year, at least.

Fair enough points. And perhaps I'm misremembering, but it seems like we run better when he's in. Just saying.

Bell. Boatloads of talent. Him and AB makes for hope. I still wish he would run lower and not take as many hard hits. Double D and Heath Kudos. reminded me why I love football, run it until they stop you,Bengals never did.

His lack of contribution was certainly a contribution to the win, no doubt.

He does seem to run straight up, but it just must be the way it looks, because RB's that run straight up get driven backwards. Bell never goes backwards, he takes big hits and falls forwards. He's obviously doing just fine with how high he runs.

I have heard him on more than one occasion be compared to eddie George. he ran that way and I think he delivered more hits than he took

Eric Dickerson was another "straight-up" runner who did pretty well. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Game ball on offense is clearly bell, with an honorable mention to Ben..... great rebound game from him

Defensive game ball goes to Timmons, with a big time honorable mention to antwon blake for his work in relief of swaggin toast

It's a fair point of yours that Adams may be a better run blocker than Gilbert. He can certainly drive guys in a way we don't see from Gilbert. Although, Gilbert has improved a lot this year under Munchak. Either way, I think any difference between their run blocking abilities is much smaller than the difference in their pass blocking abilities, of which Gilbert is better. Gotta keep Ben safe.

I've thought that he reminds me of Eddie George also because he always seems to fall forward and still get positive yardage. I just hope he is more durable than Eddie George. He was great when he was healthy and I really liked him. About the only OSU player I think I've ever really liked.

To each his own, run lower stay in the league longer, protect your body when you can.I have compared him to Forte of the Bears since Bell has come into the league. Both exceptional talents. Bell is dynamite, please run lower.
