might as well start a thread about this. everyone will have opinions of who we should get i'm sure but let's look at some serious possibilities.

one guy i have liked and he always does well when called upon is craig reynolds. he has been with the lions but has moved further down the pecking order there. not saying he wouldn't here either with two starters in place butdepth is needed as these guys get more wear and tear on them. reynolds has done quite well when he has filled in for the starters there. probably could be signed for around 1 mil. or so.

i know we need other area's taken care of as well but we can't overlook these depth signings. we have been pretty lucky with injuries so far at RB. mcfarland just doesn't seem to fit the bill.

well they do have to work with the cap so it's not really about being cheap.

some show yesterday mentioned how Belichek and the Pats went all in in 21, signing a lot of FA's and spending over 100 hundred million in guaranteed money..(not sure of the accuracy, just saying). Not much to show for it, is there more we could have done/should do in FA, maybe, but look at the teams remaining for the SB, all built with the draft, perhaps some key or depth FA signings. The draft is still the way to build.

Every time free agency starts to come around and the inevitable sign this guy sign that guy posts appear I’m reminded of an interview with Dave Wannstadt. He basically said you have to be really careful in free agency. There’s always a reason teams are letting someone walk. Sometimes it’s a nagging injury. Sometimes there’s nothing left in the tank. Sometimes they have ****ed up attitudes and are problems in the locker room. Caveat emptor

He probably still costs too much money but man I’d love to get Mike Evans in here. Guy just balls out every single year no matter who his QB is and would be the vet leader they need on that side of the ball. He’d elevate this WR group so much.

Cowherd (for what its worth) often mentions only 1/3 of FA is successful.( thats probably in line with 1st round picks (being REALLY good players), I think at times it less of a crap shoot, a player is really good, the team is in CAP hell and just cannot make a deal, it happens. Yet how many times have we seen (even our own players) get the big offers and sign almost immediately whne the period starts, only to fall flat.

I like him as well, but he is also going to be 31 before the season starts...not sure how much investment I'd make.

probably why wannstadt never lasted too long anywhere. sometimes it's just a money thing. sometimes you draft a guy that's as good as the vet and comes much cheaper. the cap limits a lot of what some teams can do. if you have a franchise qb on a second contract, many times you have to cut guys you would like to keep.

Craig Reynolds went to Kutztown and trained at Byrd sports performance in lehigh valley area. Been seeing tape on him for years because I worked with the owner in a job prior to him opening a sports performance training facility.
