Free Agency: Quarterbacks

I would love to hear some thought from everyone regarding our QB situation. None of the backup QBs from last year are still on the roster. What are everyone's thoughts? Do they bring in someone who is a vet into a backup role that wasn't with the team last year or do they resign what they had?

 

They will re-sign Byron for sure. He's gone elsewhere and I think has finally accepted that he's a backup and his situation in Pittsburgh is as good as any, so he'll sign for relatively cheap.

I think they will draft a QB late and let him compete with Troy Smith for the #3 pick... or re-sign Batch and let him and Smith fight it out in camp.

 

Its hard to believe that there is going to be much of a demand for Leftwich or Batch, so they should be easy re-signs if we want them. Leftwich I could see, Batch, as much as I like the guy, will retire. Dennis Dixon wants to be a starter, thats not going to happen here, so he's gone. Troy Smith was signed to a futures contract, not starter material, but a good back up. Don't think we have a quarterback situation. We have a good starter, we'll have two capable backups. And if all hell breaks loose, doubt it will take much to get Batch out of retirement to fill in.

Batch is gonna retire I mean it seems like the last 2 seasons that was the case. Leftwhich will be back as he is the perfectback up. I think they will take a flyer on jacoby harris in round 6 or 7 and he will compete with Smith. Johnson is a camp arm heck they might bring Dixon back as a camp arm also.

 

Then our prayers have been answers, hahahaha. Wow.

 

i think johnson is the new qb. instead of a draft pick. he has as much if not more game then any we will get later in the draft. this kid would have been drafted fairly high if he haden't hurt his throwing shoulder his jr. year. he had to have surgery on it and the stregnth wasen't for his sr. year or combines and pro days. he was replaced by tannahell mid way through the season because of it. he set alot of passing records at A&M. he was a good qb in college. he's ready to go now.
