Sorry if this has been posted, but I couldn't find it as a separate topic.

I know it's been discussed in various threads, but what can be done to correct the lack of situation knowledge?

Case: On the INT to end the game Newman pushed Nelson OOB and gave them enough time to get the one play off.

I have serious doubts that this years team would have that kind of intuition.

I think it can be taught by emphasizing in practice, holding classes, and in key situations remind everyone what is going on. Maybe someone on the coaching staff should be an NFL rules/situational football consultant and be miked up with the OC and DC during the game, so they can relay key thinking to the players. Sad you would have to do this for people making so much money, but it might save a game or two a season.

I know it's not just the Steelers...Detroit had the same crap happen on the free-kick. The fool let it bounce, coach was not happy on the sideline. I think he said, "That's the dumbest F-in thing he's seen".
