I wouldn't go as far as to call Tomlin dumb. The guy got straight A's all the way through William and Mary. During Cowher's bad stretch late 90's and early 2000's and Noll's 1980's teams I saw players do all kinds of dumb things and the coaches make all kinds of dumb decisions. I still think that the whole vibe of the Steelers changed when Art II took over the reins. I could be reaching but there just seems to be a different tone that I can't quite describe.

Tomlin is not dumb, but there is a specific type of dumb he seems to exhibit - low Football IQ. IQ is multidimensional, and analyzing behavior on the team, he consistently comes up short in football decision making. His team often looks unprepared for weak opponents, and that would seem to be related to poor or inappropriate preparation during the week, and perhaps in the off-season. That to me is related to low football IQ as well. It probably is contagious to the whole coaching staff and players - our special teams are special in a bad way.

This is not just a Steeler thing, though I think they are low on the football IQ scale. Other coaches and players have low Football IQ as well. Seem to be more and more odd decisions and play calling each week.

Low football IQ seems to be the norm at most levels. At times I sit on my couch and scratch my head at some of the play calls and decisions made. I understand these decisions need to be made in a split second but that is why they get paid as much as they do. I would hope each staff would take a good hard look at themselves and find what areas they can improve on to get better.

I think we've both been saying the same thing for years and it's a shame that we are wasting what I consider one of the most talented teams in the league. It's sad really.....

I think that with a lot of coaches it's pride and not wanting to change 'the process' even if that process isn't working very well or the players are tuning out the same old mantra.

In a nutshell this describes much of the frustration for Steeler fans.
