I watched that Browns/Ravens game really close hoping they'd pull it off.

One thing I noticed was how even the Browns DB's made plays on the ball. They were just hairs away from getting a couple of them.

This Pittsburgh defense just doesn't do it anymore. I want to see some chances taken every now and then from guys who've been in that film room studying tendencies and jumping some routes.

They've got to generate something. 3 games this year and they look like they've got no pop in them. Starting to look like they're running in quicksand.

I saw a stat the other day, can't remember the exact number but we have given up fewer 20+ yard plays then anyone over the years. Well yeah, duh, we play 20 yards off every receiver. We are so afraid of getting beat by the big play that we over protect against it. And please, don't anyone bring up the Tebow game, we left Ike back there to cover everyone by himself and focused solely on stopping the run, that's not the norm.

Every time I think we should have our DBs playing up closer to the receivers, I'm reminded of the Ravens game last season when we tried it and seemed to get penalties called on us every play. If we do have a change in strategy, we better get Carnell training our backs how to get the refs off their backs.

Begs the question, which will win next Sunday? The irresistible force? Or the immovable object? The Steelers who can't buy a turnover? Or the Eagles who give them away like Santa on crack at Christmas?

I've posted in other threads about how the Eagles have 12 turnovers in 3 games but when they play us the will have zero. I stand by that prediction but if they DO have a turnover I think it'll be Troy that has it. You just know that Vick is gonna come out and miraculously get it together against us of all people. I HOPE like everything I'm wrong! I really do!

I thought the same thing when one of the Browns DBs made a good play in the end zone against Torry Smith I believe. He had perfect hip to hip position and made an athletic play on the ball. Not saying the Steelers DBs never do this but these kinds of plays seem to be few and far between. Ike's ball skills ave always been sub-par. He's survived on pure athletic ability ad speed. And Keenan Lewis? PULEEEEEEEEZ! He looks like a baby colt taking its first steps he's so awkward. I had hope for Cortez Allen but so far he's disappointed. Curtis Brown has been the standard of mediocrity at this point and can't seem to earn any significant playing time.

That's a fair question, freak. But could it really be a coaching problem?

Missing a good house cleaning of sick, lame and lazy players. Getting rid of coaches that fail to hold players accountable or lack the skill and experience to correct the same problems and deficiencies that have been evident for the last 5 years with that Ho Hum attitued that if you cant fix it talk about it. The Steelers have declined rapidly over the last 5 years. Its time the fans turn up the heat.

I think the biggest problem on D is the D-line, if you go back to the wildcard game were Tebow completed 10 passes for 316 yards, the reason is he is terrible so they run but the run defense is so poor that we had to keep the safties up in the box and play man coverage which is a big weakness for this team. Even in man caverage Tebow only completed 10 passes but if you noticed they were all deep routes, that tells me the guys they pick for the secondary are slow and it has been for a long time. The difference is you had Smith, Keisel, and Hampton who were younger and healthy and there wasn't an o-line that could block them one on one very long so on pass plays someone always got free. Now we have an old Keisel and Hampton who are still playing tough but they get doubled because Ziggy can't shed a block of a single lineman so they always have someone left to pick up a blitz in the middle and once the blitz is picked up it over, the pass will be completed for 12 or 15 yards. In running situations we play normal zone but instead of the down lineman eatting up blocks letting the LBers come free to make a stop we see them having to take up blocks for the safties or CBs to make the hit as Keisel and Hampton are boubled and Ziggy gets thrown aside and the the lineman then takes on the LBer. I really think they should let Heyward start at this point as Ziggy is a joke and should be released after this season, and I think McLendon should be replacing Hampton, he isn't the same guy he was.
