But the pass wasn't batted down or pick off so I'm not sure why it matters.

I can say that about a lot of plays in the history of the NFL. What if Ben's pass to Holmes was picked off or batted down? The fact is, it wasn't.

I don't like Flacco, but the guy has been a good QB for quite a while now and has consistently taken his team to the playoffs. 2 years in a row now he played well enough to take his team to the SB and he won SB MVP by playing some of the best football ever played by a QB in a SB run. You can't take that away from him.

Ben took the team the length of the field. Flacco's td throw was a fluke that was the result of awful coverage.

Ben's td throw was in the Super Bowl. Had Flacco not gotten lucky, the rats wouldn't have made it out of the divisional round.

Ben's not the highest paid player in league history. Flacco is.

Had Ben's contract been up for extension in the off-season following XLIII would he have received this sort of contract?

It's easy to just sit around saying, "But it didn't." Any moron can do that. This is a message board, not a news source. The idea is to stir up some critical thinking. No shlt the pass went for a touchdown. But . . . had the rats not gotten a fluke win and the rats didn't get out of the first round, I don't think Flacco gets that contract.

Of course he wouldn't get that contract had they got bumped from the playoffs in Denver. The Denver play was a fluke but Flacco made the most of the opportunity by having a stellar postseason. Every players position is unique, Flacco had the Ravens over a barrel, they had no choice, no way they were going to let him walk.

Of course Flacco doesn't get that type of contract without winning the SB. What's your point? He did win the SB. Call it a fluke all you want, Flacco did everything he was supposed to as the QB and as a result he was rewarded with a large contract. Yeah, Ben took the team the length of the field, so what? I don't know what this has to do with Ben. Flacco's contract has nothing to do with Ben whatsoever.

Whether you think Flacco's contract is deserved or not, there's no denying he earned a very large contract with his play.
