Five potential FA signings

Well... Malik Hooker is a high risk, high reward level talent for certain. Boom or bust is dependent on his health. If he can stay healthy.... it will be worth it. Sadly though, history is not on his side; all the more reason that he has yet to receive any offers.

Where is Steven Nelson? Still a free agent?

Back in May he was reporting that 14 teams were bidding on his services, now we are after the June 1st date and I still can't see where he has signed with anyone.

Shame he didn't keep his mouth shut and he could have returned to the Steelers like Vince.

 

He can play if he can stay healthy.

What are you going to do with him?

If Hooker comes in 100% healthy and on top of his game do you sit Minka? Minka and Malik are pretty much the same talent; great cover guys who can't tackle to save their life. Move one of them to the slot corner?

 

Three safety looks with Terrell moving to dime linebacker at times? Minkah playing slot corner at times? Moving them all around basically. Guys will also miss games with injury too so it would be great to have this guy around if the money is right

It's not set but they have no money to sign anyone not willing to play for peanuts, unless they clear more cap.

Heard a depressing discussion on the Terrible Podcast where they discussed the very real possibility that TJ Watt's cap hit in 2021 actually goes up if he's signed long term, which means even less cap space to sign help.

 

If they want to or need to sign somebody they can easily clear some cap Space.

 

I guess you sign him for little and take the chance to see if he can finally stay healthy. I see what your saying. His availability has been really bad though. Let's hope if they sign him he can turn that around

 

Him leaving town without a contract is not a good sign per Steelers history. I'm guessing he wants more than they can afford.

 

TBH ... I would love if we could bring Nelson back. I'm not loving the lack of depth at CB.

 

That is also how I read it. Maybe they thought they could get him on a cheap, prove-it, one-year contract and he said no.

I agree with Da Stellars. I would love to see them bring Nelson back. I just don't think that is going to happen, either.

 

What's his family situation like? If he is married and has a young family it could be as simple as he needed to talk with the wife and make some hard decisions.

You guys are more than likely right that he didn't get what he was hoping for and decided to weigh his options. His injury status makes it more likely he is going to have to settle for a one year prove it deal. Not sure the Steelers can get any hard numbers to give him without making some moves that perhaps they don't want to make until necessary.

 

He passed the Steelers physical? Just asking...
