Fire Colbert

If you want to fire Keith Butler, then at a minimum you have to consider firing Kevin Colbert. It is clear he and his staff have no clue how to consistently draft real defensive talent. The Steelers need to contract with some retired scouts who have a history of finding defensive talent particularly DBs. Colbert and his staff are terrible at drafting DBs. My take on Colbert's defensive draft picks.

 

A few bad pick in the secondary? A FEW? Try most of the picks in the secondary.

 

During Colbert‘s tenure with the Steelers we’ve had the second best winning percentage in the league and you want to fire the guy?
Our defense isn’t near as bad as some of you act like it is.
A regular season hasn’t even started yet. Let’s see how the defense plays during the regular season when the games count before we start going nuts.

 

His record shows he and his team have no clue how to draft good to very good DBs. Their LB selection are not good as well other than Watt and that is still a maybe.

Also didn’t he draft Shazier?

 

Vince in the good category? He's as average as they come.

 

Tuitt very good? Guy seems like a bum to me.

 

I think calling Tuitt a bum is pretty ridiculous. I’m not saying he’s the best 34 DE in the league, but he’s proven that he is a very good DE and has done so since his second year in the league. His play may have dropped a little last year (playing with a torn arm muscle could do that to a DLineman), but I don’t think that warrants labeling him a bum?

Yeah!! Every other team in the league has managed to draft HOF players every year! Not a bad pick in the bunch! Stupid Colbert!

Well checking all the GM rankings it seems Colbert is ranked number two in all of them I looked at, here is a sample:

Not too many game-changing db's left after the 20th or so draft pick. Linebackers either.

 

We need to fire everyone and hire coaches/staff like New England. We need to get the Rooney family out and turn the team over to someone like Kraft. Pittsburg sucks and should be more like New England. We need to get rid of all the players and find some like the Patriot's have. Heinz Field should be more like Gillette Stadium. Steeler Nation sucks and should be more like Patriot fans...wouldn't it be easier to change allegiance? Asking for a friend!

Being number 2 in a field of 32 doesn't qualify as a loser, in a horse race you cash in a winning show ticket

Honestly it's just about a half dozen posters that are creating all the drama.
They do have their negativity in overdrive for sure.

I personally think we are going to be fine. And if we're not we're not. Life goes on.
I am certainly not going to label the season as doomed before it even starts.

 

Bobby Bethard was inducted into the HOF this year after 22 years as a GM and colbert has a better win loss record in 18 years than he has, more playoff games than he has, so colbert stat wise is a better GM than Bethard was and colbert did it with 4 years less GM time on the job, plus bethard always got to draft higher in the draft because he only had double digit wins 8 times in 22 years while we always draft in the bottom of each round............
