In case Mike Wallace is wondering what that looks like, in the first video at the 21 second mark, Lynn Swann hesitates and COMES BACK TO THE BALL to contest the catch and, oh, what a catch it was! In the second video at the 11 second mark, John Stallworth goes up and battles the defensive back on an underthrown pass and comes away with the catch. The lesson here, Mike, is don't become a spectator on an underthrown ball, go up and fight for it. I hope you get a full highlight reel of Swannie and Stalls and learn how to contest an underthrown ball and fight for possession:

You only need to look at other games to see what to do. Did you see the great catch Tory Smith made in OT to get the Rats way down field? Di you notice Jordy Nelso take off for Rogers and blow by the guy. I saw Wallace quit on his route at least 2 times when Batch expected him to keep going. Wallace needs some hands, his inability to catch that slant (not a perfect pass, but 90% of other receivers catch it) resulted in a killing turnover.

I just stated this in another thread, his lack of effort is shown every time he is touched by a DB and he totally quits trying to catch the ball and starts looking for a flag.

Great videos....brought back some good memories. Watching Wallace compared to Swan and Stallworth here really shows how much they hungered for the win, whereas it seems Mikey wants everything handed to him so he doesn't have to put up much effort.

It's like with Lynn, John, and even Ward, they'd take a bad pass and make it an amazing catch. With Wallace, you get the feeling he's thinking, "Well it didn't come right to me so I'm not going to bother. It's the QB's fault."

Good thread! You don't see these guys dancing after making a great catch either!

The Torrey Smith one is exactly where I was going to go with this as well....
