I don't know what the announcers were talking about, but I thought the field looked and held up well for being a downpour!

I didn't see any bug chunks ripped out or major issues due to the grass at all. Mostly due to the weather. Maybe it's just me. Wasn't the field voted one of the better grass fields just a few years ago?
This is the case of selective memory in the public again. That first turf was terrible then they went through some trail and error with bad ideas for a few years but it's been nailed down for the most part for about 8-9 years now!

It was definitely nothing compared to the Miami Monday nighter from about 10 years ago. That was literally like playing in a swamp.

Yeah. Allen Rossum was like "CLEAR! CLEAR! CLEAR!" and the ball just went "thud". LOL!

Steve Young was livid about the field conditions in that game. One thing to remember though is that there had been a high school tournament that weekend and also Pitt had played and then we had our game on Monday in an absolute torrential downpour. I was there and I know exactly how bad the weather was. It was absolutely terrible. I think I just finally got dried out from it just a couple of weeks ago.

Just think if that game had been against the Raiders! Al Davis went to his grave thinking we froze the field in 78 and he would have probably then tried to convince everybody we flooded it as well. LOL!

That was one of the "Bad Ideas" I was talking about. They had all those events scheduled that chewed up the field, they weren't scheduled to have the field replaced until the next week or something. So they decide to replace it early so that they had a decent field for Monday Night. Problem was they didn't want to rip the old turf up because of some reason, so they stitched the new turf on top of the old turf. Apparently, that wouldn't have been a bad idea if they didn't have torrential rain all weekend and because of the them stitching that layer in the drainage wasn't able to handle all the water.

Comedy of errors. They probably shouldn't have played on that field! Couldn't even see guys feet as they were sinking into the turf!

They were literally trying to replace the sod DURING the game.
