    Everyone contributed to the incident.

First and foremost, the blame falls on Tomlin for putting his struggling qb and woefully inept offense in the position to get clobbered.

The fact that Mason did ANYTHING but either hand off or just take a knee proves how stupid our HC is. All this is ultimately on him. If I was Garrett, I would sue Tomlin for lost wages.

Now, as far as the racial slur goes, there is something that no one has brought up yet...black guys say it all the time. It is a common word. Should it be said? That's not up to a white boy like me to say. But I don't say it. It isn't a common word to me. I can only assume it is not a common word to Rudolph.

I swear too much. I drop the f-bomb. I shouldn't. In the heat of battle, I guarantee it would slip out without me thinking. But the N word? Never. I don't care if I was at the bottom of a log pile with only black guys on top of me. If someone gouged my eye I wouldn't say it. Why? Because it would be wrong? No. Because it isn't what I say. And that's why I don't believe Rudolph said it. White guys don't just let that word slip. The only people who do are black or racist. Rudolph is neither.

I can't imagine him apologizing to Rudolph if Rudolph actually called him a racial slur. It just isn't credible in the least.

What a bad week for Rudolph. He throws 4 picks in a losing effort, has his helmet torn off and hit over the head with it, is falsely accused of racism and then he finds out that he doesn't even get paid for the game.

If I call someone a name and they attempt to kill me, is it my fault? It’s that simple.

No. Just no. This isn't like playing Ben in a blowout. The offense and QB need the work. That they were getting clobbered is evidence of that.

This is not a political opinion, just an observations. Of course anybody left of center believes Garrett, because making it racial gives them a (insert an erect penis euphemism here).

If Garrett is lying, he should be tried for treason. It's this kind of BS that continually fans the flames of hatred and division in this country.

If he's telling the truth, same but opposite. I've had just about enough of this racial BS!

The cheap azz late hit on a play that DIDN'T EVEN MATTER started it... MG obviously thought he could say it in private and not have to defend it in the court of public opinion... If it's NOT a lie, what was MG doing? protecting Mason Rudolph when he omitted to bring up the racial slur previously??? The guy he tried CLUBBING to death for allegedly saying it prior??? BS!!!

That absolutely is a political opinion and it's obviously false.

Just stop. There is nothing to be gained by running that last pass play. Nothing.

Please tell me how they would have been even 1% better as a unit regardless of the outcome of that play. Mason avoids the sack and dumps off a screen pass that goes 80 yards for a score. Are we any better prepared for Cincy as a result? Other than Pouncey would be available, there is no discernable difference in the offense. We have just as much experience and ability if Mason takes a knee right there.

Yeah and if the team is in a similar situation in the future where they need one play to attempt to win or tie the game you will be the first one to criticize the coaches for failing to have them prepared. Maybe that's simply the approach the coaches took to the situation? The best way for players to learn and grow is by playing. The Browns could had given up in that situation but they didn't. They had their best players on the field too. In situational football who will step up?

Just because you didn't agree with the decision doesn't mean there wasn't anything to gain. Some times there isn't a right or wrong just a simple understanding.

From an attainable distance, sure. But not 80 yards. You never have and NEVER will hear me complain because the coaches didn't spend practice time on an 80 yard play worth 15 points. C'mon.

And you think that last play would foster "learning and growth?" We had already learned that Cleveland was able to bloody our noses and take our lunch money. The only growth remaining to be had at that point was the browns' egos.

Did Jibber-Jabber ever explain the reasoning behind the call on that play? I'd love to know what the play was called that goes for 80 yards and is worth 15 points.

I just offered a plausible answer to your, "nothing to be gained" reply.

What's an attainable distance? A game isn't over until it's over. When all hope is lost teams find a way to win sometimes. Remember 2017 when the Steelers faced the Pats in the regular season? All hope looked lost. They eventually loss the game but they had an opportunity.

The Steelers were not going to win the game vs the Browns. In a similar situation down one score in the future who knows?

There it is. Nothing positive can come from running that play. Nothing.

It seems you didn't follow the plausible point I made regarding the situational football aspect of the play. Oh well.
