So just so I’m getting this right

Are you suggesting getting Mason to tell them Canada’s offense is going to give the Ravens useful intelligence

They’d have a slightly different offensive scheme with MR at quarterback, lol. Seriously, they’ve made a major commitment to a run heavy offense with a running quarterback leading the charge so I’m not sure Baltimore would be the optimum spot for Rudolph. It’ll take 2-3 years to transition to a more balanced offense.

The funny part is on March 15 neither of them may be on the roster

With both Greg Roman and Lamar Jackson gone, I am expecting to see more of the traditional style of offense in Baltimore next year.

The biggest problem in the negotiations is Jackson has a nin com poop for an agent

It would seem that way, except for a number of factors-

    A) Jackson isn't a team player. I understand the not wanting to get hurt during a contract season stuff, but laying down on his team when they actually made the playoffs isn't a good look.
    B) He literally wants to be the highest paid, highest guaranteed contract in the history of football. And he isn't even among the best qbs in football. Hell, he's not even the best in his own division.
    C) Jackson only works well in an offense that's designed for Jackson. West Coast Offense? Forget it, can't run it. Any team that signed him would have to overhaul their entire offense for him. Without any first round picks.
    D) Teams are scared off by the huge contracts and draft picks it would cost, all on a hope that things work out. Watson and Wilson are going to cost coaches jobs. Hell, Wilson already has.
    E) He just isn't that good.

The talk of collusion is pretty funny. NFL teams realize that LJ absolutely has to have healthy wheels and run all the time to be a winning QB (and so far even that’s in the regular season only), and they’re saying no way to paying massive guaranteed money plus multiple 1st round picks to get him. Too risky. You get some splash plays and a few good regular season wins, but the empirical evidence is mounting that he’s just not a complete QB. I think *most* teams are smart enough to avoid betting the franchise on him. We’ll see who isn’t smart pretty soon.

Collinsworth was asked about this by Kay Adams and he said highly highly unlikely because of the liability. He said no one would start that conversation.

So many people are acting all confused over it and implying something rotten is going on. I get why ex players want to see him get paid but why do fans want to see him get that much money, from a fans perspective it’s horrible for the game. Will just cripple your team. I don’t think it’s just about Jacksons abilities, it’s just the insane amount and fully guaranteed contract they don’t want to give anyone. Watson wasn’t getting that either until Browns jumped into it at the last second.

The other disingenuous argument going around is why is Daniel Jones making more, as if Jackson didn’t turn down a huge offer by the Ravens.

Well, I haven’t seen a breakdown of Jones’ deal but a 4 year, $160 million deal for a QB isn’t crazy compared to some of the recent deals out there. Especially if it’s structured for an easy out after a couple of years. Also, like/trust him or not, Jones had his best year last season and even had a solid outing in his first postseason game.

So if no team offers Jackson what do the Ravens have to pay him this year?

Not sure but I think then all they have to pay him is the 32.4 million tag for this year.

It looks like a dang Halloween costume with the pendant matching the lining of the jacket. I think he and Joe Burrow are competing to see who can dress the cheesiest!:facepalm:

So they will pay him way less than what he's asking for. Or get 2 1st round picks if he signs elsewhere. If someone makes an offer do they have to match it in order to keep him?

Yes, once a team makes an offer the Ravens have to match it or they lose Jackson. They would get two first rd draft picks as compensation.

Lamar Jackson may be an exciting player to watch at times, but I think the Ravens are better to let him walk. He is competitive against some teams, but is a one trick pony in my opinion. When is the last time a Lamar Jackson type QB won a Super Bowl? Steve Young is probably the closest you would come, but even he was not the type of run first QB Lamar Jackson, Michael Vick or even Kordell Stewart was. While I like the idea of the Ravens keeping him, he does not have longevity.

I've been reading reactions from the combine and other articles about it, the same way most of us build a sense of when players might be taken.

It is possible he doesn't get an offer that he wants and sits out. In that case, the Ravens wouldn't have Jackson or the two first-round picks.

I wanted to see the Ravens screw up by giving him what he wanted, but that's just rooting against Baltimore.

There is at least one poster here who puts his desire to see players get overpaid ahead of his support for the Steelers, among other things, but that thinking makes little sense to me.

Only thing that has me confused is why the non-exclusive tag is that much lower than the exclusive tag value. Makes it a win win for the team.
