I would say that our coaches have been below the line from a preparation standpoint in that regard.

I don't think anybody involved with this team is doing a good job right now. Although you know what they say you can't make chicken salad out of chicken bleep the talent isn't any good.

Are they putting them in the best position? No! See the db's cushion... Year in and year out.

Are they coaching them up? No! See the same lack of technique and mental errors on the O-line... Year in and year out.

Are they motivated? No! However a coach can only motivate to an extent... Players need to want to win, year in and year out.

So many threads on the lack of leadership or lack of motivation... People ought to be motivated by their paychecks and love of the game. If some spirited cheerleader happens to nab a roster spot like a Porter, then great. If you can't be guilted into being pissed off by the boo birds and headlines and crying diehards, then you have no loyalty to team or personal pride. Sorry folks loyalty and pride can't be coached.

So in this short survey of 28 people we have majority of people saying they have not
seen improvement in the players mentioned in the
original thread. Nor have they liked thefundamentals, coaching up and motivation of our coaching staff. I think the Rooney's have big questions on the horizon(after the year) looming.

This always bothers me, because even though we've been complaining about the cushion for years, DL still uses it... apart from the fact we used to get called for PI when we played up close, there must be a reason for this in terms of the scheme as a whole. What it is though... is bewildering.

As for leadership and motivation - completely agree.

I think it's fairer to say that 28 people have looked at the 0-4 record and interpreted in terms of the coaching, as per the OP.

I'd like to think that the Rooney's have a handle on the issues in the franchise on all levels.

Your very insightful Hawkeye, I have read your responses before. What ever age group you coach,I believe they are getting a coach that knows what he is talking about. You totally knew what I was getting at. We can do better, we must do better. I also see by your weekly picks your not a flat out HOMER like myself.

Thanks! The one thing that I see different between Cowhers staff and Tomlins isn't the people but the depth. Under Cowher's teams it always seemed we had someone ready and pushing for that spot. I can't remember how many times we let someone go thinking we let Chad Brown, Kevin Greene etc. go to have someone ready to go behind him. Now maybe some of that has to do with the new CBA and I am not at practice so I can't say Tomlin etc. are not doing the same things in trying to develop talent. But it seems right now our lack of depth is really hurting us. In the past we let players go once they got just past their prime. Lately it seems we are holding onto them because there is no one to step in.

As for being a homer I really want to pick with my heart each week and say the Steelers 150 and the opponent 0, but this year I just can't do it because they are not a good football team. I think the key word is TEAM. We are really missing the Bus, Ward and Aaron Smith in that locker room in my opinion.

Yes and No the Steelers are a bad team. Blame it on coaching , players, injuries and draft choices. The Steelers have been going down hill for the past three years and now it's come full circle.

You entire reason for dumping on Tomlin in this thread was based on incorrect info (that he took the team to London on Saturday) and that the team played poorly as a result. It may be your opinion but it isn't based on facts.

How can you blame the team's performance on travel (even though they didn't travel as late as you claimed) when they performed the same in the first 3 game this season?
