Do we really need a 3rd string QB?

You used Ben as an example for Shaw to be a back up. Shaw will never see anything close to the career Ben has had. If you're going to replace Landry and Grad, bring in somebody who is good.

Get out of here with that homer crap Shaw as a backup to Ben , Gradkowski does have some mobility what games are you watching. He might be inconsistent at times but the Steelers want a veteran as Ben's backup. If Shaw is so great how come he wasn't drafted?

He probably never will start for an NFL team, but he won't clear waivers.

Cant wait to see the doubters eat crow. If shaw was 6'4" he would've been drafted in 2nd-3rd round. Go ahead and keep doubting him. I'm a loyal steelers fan, but I'm also loyal to my college team and our players who have been perfect representatives for our university. I know one thing, you wouldn't have to worry about marijuana arrests with shaw and embarrassing our beloved franchise!

Again, loyal Steelers fan, but I'd "lmfao" at doubters if he ever played for an opponent and beat us!

Yeah right you're the same guy that wanted the Steelers to draft Marcus Lattimore how's he doing in the NFL so far. Nobody cares about your favorite college players, Shaw isn't a NFL QB period.

I just meant that he won't because he made the team.

Ben went 13-0, he sat out the last game of the year against the Bills.Tommy Maddox started. Brian St. Pierre also took some snaps that day.

That guy named Tom Brady was pretty crappy too, coming out of college. It's not being a homer, it's about knowing talent and he's got it! I was ecstatic when we got grad, believe me. He just doesn't look comfortable in our system and I simply feel Shaw would fit the bill. You just never know and I know that grad and Landry are not it. Take Matt Flynn as an example, looked terrific in green bay, gets nice contract and moves elsewhere and couldn't do zilch. System QB, my friend.

You're the one that needs to get a clue if you think Shaw could be the Steelers backup QB. I never said I was a fan of Landry Jones or the Steelers making that pick, but he's more of a pro prospect than Shaw. Who cares anyway he's a 3rd string QB who most likely won't play.

It's a moot point the Steelers aren't getting rid of Grad, how many times do I have to say it they want a veteran QB to be Ben's backup.

Why would most people want a RB that had two knee injuries in college? he's damaged goods. He was a good RB but I wouldn't want the Steelers to draft him, he's been in the league for two years and still not ready to play. The reason the 49ers took a chance on him because they had a lot of draft picks.

Yes, we do. Now, if we can only find him.

How fast can we pump a Geritol/B12 speedball into Batch and get him into the facility?

I have quite more than a clue, I watched him play in the SEC for 3 years. Plus, I never annointed him the second coming of Christ like you've implied, I simply believe he has a place in this league, and other teams will wish they had given him a chance. If you disagree with that, fine...that's the beauty of freedom of speech. Nonetheless, we're still Steelers brethren :towel:

Take it from somebody who followed Heath's HS career, he was a heckuva high school quarterback with a big arm! He was highly recruited out of high school as a quarterback but Al Groh had different plans for him at UVA. I'd say it's worked out pretty well for him. I'm still waiting for Haley to put an option pass trick play into the gameplan for him. Would love to see him throw just one NFL pass.

I got to see Heath play in HS as well and have never understood why we never designed any pass plays for him.

Connor Shaw has more upside than both of our backups, he's on the clowns practice squad ripe for the picking.....

Shaw posted a 24-1 TD-INT ratio as a senior. Wrote NFL.com's Nolan Nawrocki: "Workaholic, gym rat. Extremely determined. Vocal presence. Smart and instinctive -- is the son of a coach and understands football concepts. Plays through pain. Has a 27-5 career starting record, has rallied his team to victory off the bench and carries a calm, confident, poised field presence. Mentally and physically tough."
