I don't like to hunt around my area. But it's getting mad crazy here (Georgia). Bucks in the last couple years started sleeping in my yard. I think they like my st Augustine grass, and no one else around me has it.

What's bad is in my neighbors yards there will be 30 does. And then you go a few more houses down and see another deer meeting going on.

I've literally stopped counting at 100 deers one night just driving to my stop sign about a 1/4 mile away from me.

I'll go for a walk and they'll just stay in the ditch grazing.

How is it in your area?

We have a significant deer population in Iowa but the area I hunt in doesn't have a constant flow of large deer. We do get some good sized ones every year though.

Where I live 92% of the people hunt. The only real way to hunt is Bow hunting though.

I would love to bow hunt, but don’t have anywhere to practice. So I’m stuck with the tried and true Remington 700. Not that I’m complaining. Reaching out a few hundred yards is a lot of fun too.

LoL....that's cheating. Just playing....a lot of My Friend do the same.
It's totally a whole different thing with a Bow.
They don't have archery ranges close by???
We even have indoors archery ranges in the podunk area I live....not that I need one, but just saying.

There might be an indoor range or two, but I’m not aware of them. Besides shooting indoors doesn’t prepare you for dealing with wind, rain, cold, shooting from elevation… I would also have to seriously hone my tracking skills. That’s something i haven’t had to do in 40 or so years. I think the furthest I’ve had a deer make it after a shot is about 20ft and that was a 2 for 1 special.

I have never hunted. Though, I do have some dirt in CO. The parcel might be too small to hunt though….. I know there are deer and elk that use it as a bathroom!

I agree with all that. That's why I was saying it way different Bow hunting. Also I just mentioned the archery ranges because I thought You meant nowhere to shoot.
With all that said....It's why I think Bow hunting is the only real hunting left.....,but that's JMO.

The deer population has gotten so out of hand here you’re allowed to hunt over bait now. I don’t, but I know people that do. I’ve been hunting the same land for 15 or so years. At this point I’ve got their routes and habits pretty much dialed in.

I no longer hung. When I got out of the army after serving in two wars I just couldn't find it in me anymore. Used to hunt all the time. In Harrisburg a lot of businesses shut down for the first day of hunting season. I used to take my son small game hunting but I never fired my shotgun. He never hit anything :)
