Did we end Chris Johnson's career?

Every time I watch Chris Johnson play, I can't help but wonder if we had a helping hand in completely derailing his career.

Everyone knows how great he was in 2009. Then in week 1 in 2010 he lit it up like usual. Then he faced us in week 2 and was running hard. He looked very explosive and hit the holes hard. He even broke up a big TD run that was called back due to holding. Then we started hitting him, and hitting, and hitting him some more. I still clearly remember one particular hit where Woodley absolutely crushed CJ1.4K. The rest of the game that explosiveness was gone. He was hesitant to hit the holes because he was getting beat up. CJ1.4K is a little guy and can't take hits like that, and at that point in his career, he had never really taken too many huge hits.

The rest of the 2010 season he had some big games, but he also had some games where he looked awful. He just didn't hit the hole hard anymore. If he could get outside, he ran hard, but he wouldn't run inside with any speed anymore. Then 2011 came and again the explosiveness was gone. He was downright awful last year. Sure, he had a few good games because when he gets outside away he still runs with speed, but there was no speed or power while running up the middle.

This year he's averaging 1.4 yards per carry. I don't even need to say anything else. The guy is downright scared to run hard up the middle. He looks intimidated. I don't think it's a lack of passion because when he gets outside that explosiveness returns, I truly believe he's scared of being hit hard. His body just can't take that kind of abuse.

I truly think we had a hand in his downward spiral. Although I'm sure he's long forgot about that game, we gave him his first real taste of what it's like to get crushed in the NFL (especially that Woodley hit), and subconsciously something like that never goes away. I can't help but feel proud that us hitting him may have very slightly helped to change his entire approach to playing football. Now that's Steeler football.

    **** Chris Johnson! :yeehaw: :yeehaw:

So you are cheering that we "ended a player's career"? That is one small step away from cheering about a player getting injured. Pretty low dude....

Are you joking? His career isn't over in the sense of an injury, but his career as a superstar is over, and yes, I'm happy about it. I'll cheer for shutting down players with hard hits and defence all day long.

I seriously doubt tat a game 2 years ago makes him afraid to hit holes.

RB careers don't last very long, especially small ones who try to run big, the hits begin to catch up on these guys

Nope. I was hoping YOU were joking. I am just not impressed with anyone cheering for the failures of another person (or at least a person who deserves it), no matter the reason. Sure, cheer for us shutting him down in an individual game, but you seem to think we have ruined his career and you revel in that. I think that is low class

Cheer for whatever you want, but if the Eagles rough up Ben next week, and he's not the same again. Don't tell how classless they or their fans are for celebrating it.

Whatever. Like you don't want Joe Flacco to have a bad game every week for the rest of his career. Don't like my opinion feel free not to read.

Single-handedly, of course not. Combine the beating he took that game with some other games where I'm sure he took big hits and the guy is scared to hit the hole hard. Can't help but think we had a helping hand in it.

Like some players, once they get that mega dollar contract they tend to get lazy and under perform trying to do as little as they can just to hang around to collect it, he seems to be one of those players, we've had em here before as well, they get the big money then dont produce like they did before they got the big bucks......

How can I know your opinion if I don't read it? You are entitled to your opinion and I am entitled to mine.

I have a hard time believing that these guys are only out to get paid and then they don't care anymore. It has nothing to due with getting paid for most players, as they have played their entire lives being very competitive and having huge egos. They all want to be the best.

Unless the RB's last name is Sanders, he is as good as his O line.

It wasn't meant to be taken literally. Of course we didn't end his career, the guy is still playing.

Yeah, he had a good game yesterday, he also had a few good games last year, and then followed them up with more duds.

So the guy is still playing and we didn't single-handedly make him afraid to hit holes... but you asked if we ended his career.

    I'm confused.
