    A piece of good news:

Jun. 9—While most of his teammates ran through football drills on the two fields behind him last week, Devin Bush was relegated to doing what could charitably described as labored sprints. Flanked by fellow rehabbing Pittsburgh Steelers teammate Zach Banner, Bush dragged a weighted plate that was tied to his waist by a bungee cord and slid across the grass at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex.

"I went 80 yards — and it was, like, 50 pounds," Bush said during a video conference call with media after another organized team activities session Wednesday. "I progressed. That was my first time doing that, and I'd started doing that with no weight and progressed to the weight you saw me do. So I am on track."

Can he drag Banner around yet? Man that would be nice.

Hopefully that process is not rushed. Do not want him back on the IR again as that would not be good. Even if there is a contingency plan now in the likes of Buddy Johnson with his lesser but still very athletic abilities, having Devin available is a much more assuring sign than without.

This! I'm sure he is progressing and being monitored so their isn't a setback being it was a major injury. Need him on the field, not on crutches.

I just hope he plays in 17 games plus the Playoffs, fingers crossed.

I wonder what the % is of starters who actually play every game in a season? Most kickers do for sure but nobody is slamming them to the ground.

The Steelers definitely need his speed in the middle of the defense.

One concern is will he be mentally ready coming off the injury? Might take half the season before he can reach a comfort zone.

Hoping he does recover. It really hurt when he went out. But I definitely want him fully healthy first.

Hopefully he is back better than ever. I know there is a theory that it can take a full season to actually get back to 100% after that type of injury, certainly in other sports that I follow at least. Medicine has moved on so much that perhaps that’s not so relevant any more.

It’s good that Devin is feeling confident but on the other hand what else is he supposed to say? It may take him some time to really get going again, same with Zach Banner

Hope he works on defending the pass, he is a liability that really needs to
    practice these much needed skills.

Shazier was better than Bush at this point. I have faith in Bush...but Shaz was brightness in a time of average overall Steelers D.

I could be wrong, but I think Shazier just felt that much better because our Defense was pretty bad.

I'm actually feeling pretty good about the ILB room going into this season. No one is fearing this group in the grand scheme of things, but I feel confident they are up to the task. I think Buddy Johnson makes an impact sooner rather than later. He's kinda my darkhorse for having a big rookie performance. You have your thunder and lightning with Vince and Bush then Spillane as a reliable 3rd. I think they can be a solid unit.

Without Bush we will be killed by the AFCN never mind the rest of the league.

Get well soon Devin and don't rush anything.

He was a spectacular playmaker, but when he missed it was also spectacular, the other way. He was an out of control version of Troy, at least in his first couple years.

I don't think Bush, Shazier, or Timmons ever reached the level of Kirkland, Chad Brown, or James Farrior. Bush has a shot if he keeps growing.

Shazier was the only playmaker on that defense, they started a washed up Sean Spence against Jacksonville in the playoffs .

Article in BTSC says PFF rates our ILBs best in AFCN. Hope this is proven accurate in Buffalo.

He will be a huge addition to this Defense. Him and Williams in there, with Spillane as well. Should be a great group.

Yes...He was bad at guarding TE's...With his speed that was quite alarming...Hoping it was more technique, and something that can be Coached up!

Does he call the defense when playing? A lot on his plate from the get-go but yeah he needs to shut the middle zone down.
