As I said in the other thread, we can have a 10+ win season IF we run the ball effectively and our offensive line stays healthy and performs well. Ben can't carry the team on his shoulders anymore without a running game and better protection and the defense is going through a transition period with some veterans gone and others aging.

For the record, hope your thread wins out, TTF.

I try to be an eternal optimist, but that fights my basic nature, as a realist...
Realistically, we have a damn good team, so do the Bungles(although we are a more proven winner, consistentley..)...
The Cravens ALWAYS fight us tough, but we USUALLY come out on top, when it matters(read playoffs..)..
The Clowns are the Clowns, but, what bothers me more than anything in our division(including Silverback wearing stripes),
Is the addition of Ray Horton(yinz might remember him), coaching a Defense that includes A. Ruhbin, Phil Taylor, sum guy named Kugler(Formerly of Balt), Sum dude called Joe Hayden(if yinz aint been payin attention, the dude can play. He aint Troy, but he`s pretty good)...They got a linebacker in D`Qwell Jackson, that would fit in well, right here, if we needed one, and a few other talented players, in Skrine, and sum others, that I can`t recall at the moment...
Point bein... Ray Horton has some good pieces to work with, and they are gonna be even better on defense than they have been, which really wasn`t all that bad recentley... their offense has been holdin them back...(sound familiar?)...
I don`t think their O is gonna have a "breakout year", Weeden is what he is, but Richardson is a beast, thank God, we have a history of shutting down the run, we are gonna need to continue to do that, and shut down Josh Gorden, and Greg Little... as long as we can do that(And I think we can), we will continue our domination af the Clowns, but I don`t think it`s gonna be as easy as we are used to...And then... They got this guy named Jordan Cameron(or sumthin like that)... Pretty decent tight end... Not Heath, but decent...
If this sounds like one of Tomlin`s scouting reports on our opponents, Good... That is what I was trying for...
We are so used to beating up on Cleveland, that we nevr really consider them a threat...
This year, I think they will be.
Only that, a threat, not that we can`t beat them, but we can`t sleepwalk thru those games anymore...
And I`m pretty sure the players who are still on the team, from last year`s 8 turnover debacle, are gonna remember that!
    GO STEELERS!!!
No rest, No complacency... play balls to the wall every week, `cause that`s what it`s gonna take to get to #7!!!!
We can do it, but it ain`t gonna get handed to us! I`m sure our boys are ready to work for it!!!:herewego!:

Need to do better in the red zone this year.

    I like our chances period.

#7 will have to carry this team, he will have to be personally
responsible for atleast 3 of these wins. He must be super. Can/will he be able to stay healthy behind this line?

can he stay patient in this offense is my concern?

the defense will have to keep them close this year for us to win the 3 point games instead of dropping them. that alone would put us in the playoffs.

from there our line will hopefully have had a full season together and then 'ol # 7 can work his magic. every game brings this offense closer to gelling. I know that's an often used term but for this bunch it's true.

Yeah and there is a good reason that "gelling" is an often used term, especially with our offense. We have way to much offensive turnover; I count 5 possible offensive departures for next year, assuming they don't get let go this year.

Definitely a "make me feel good" read and i will try to stay optimistic on the predictions. Will add that if our OL can click on all cyl's give Ben protection by design along with a solid run game and the D=T/O's we can go along way in 2013

I believe we definitely have the talent. As long as it doesn't turn out to be Steelers beating Steelers like last year. The sky is the limit.

I guess living here in Kansas City I have been reading and hearing other "writers around the league...because all I've heard and read is that the Steelers are being picked for third behind both the Bengals and the Ravens! Bottom line is I hope that third place is all that the players and the coaches are hearing!

This is why I don't panic. Would you really want to be peaking right now? I hope they make all their mistakes, miscues, miscalculations, misunderstandings, mis-whatever else you can think of now during pre-season. I still believe we can get it together and be great. Of course that is me looking through rose-colored glasses. I refuse to take them off...the view is much more pleasing!
