You can change OC’s or DC’s or add high pedigree free agents like Queen or Fields or go all in, in the draft on the offensive line for two years in a row. Nothing ever changes. It never will change.

We still give up large chunk plays in the run game. We still lack the ability for outside contain. We still can’t cover the middle of the field on defense. The ILB’s are still woefully inefficient. We still suck on third down defense. We still completely rely on pressuring the QB and the turnover. Rarely do we force three and out.

We still start out slowly on offense and can’t put a solid four quarters together. We still have lackadaisical effort from our Wide Receivers. We still lack development of the offensive lineman. We still can’t run the ball consistently. We still struggle to put points on the board.

This has been going on for how long? I believe the talent is on this team now to win and win consistently. There is one big common denominator that is holding us back.

The guy with all the wonderful quotes doesn’t follow his own advice. What is the one “We don’t blink” or “Cut your Eye Lids off” ... yeah Tomlin has cut his Eye Lids off only to have his eyes permanently closed to the issues he has single handedly created around this team.

Alot of these issues are fixable but they are born out of Tomlin’s stubbornness to change and evlove and his in ability to coach from a place of aggression and instead from fear which equates to extremely conservative football on both offense and defense.

I am tired of watching “Ugly Football”. This has been going on for five years now. Everyone knows the ending here. Tomlin will throw more bodies at the issues as if those will correct the problems. It won’t change until he changes.

The first four fixes are get a friggin number two receiver so at the very least teams stop stacking the box against us so we can develop a run game.

Fix number two - stop the outside zone run blocking. We can’t do it were just not good at it. Go back to power and trap blocking. Thats what Najee is good at running behind.

Fix number three - Stop friggin playing zone defense. I don’t care if Donte Jackson isn’t good at Man. Friggin teach him to play Man Press instead of teaching and forcing JP to play off zone.

Fix number four - Please develop some innovative blitzes and stunts. Please use the ILB’s and safeties more in blitzes. Please actually blitz more and use man press in coverage when you blitz.

Stop living and coaching in your fears Tomlin. When you play conservative the message you send to your team and your players is that you don’t trust them. We all see it and how has that worked for you so far the last two games?

I will leave you all with this thought. In some ways I think having TJ Watt is one of the worst things that has happened to Tomlin. It has allowed him to be completely complacent on defense. He lacks innovation and is unwilling often to blitz or stretch beyond the four man rush. We have had alot of success with Watt and the four man rush but when teams are shutting it down you have to be more innovative. He is unwilling too. Its very sad to see a coach so stubborn in his ways.
