I look at the 2 traits as speed and physicality. If you get those 2 things, they will be playmakers.

The broncos had this "prolific" offense and all the other accolades they placed upon it but they didn't talk about the fact that they played 10 defenses that were in the bottom 10 of the league and 5 that were in the bottom 5 of the league. What elite qb WOULDN'T carve them up? Then when they came up against an ACTUAL defense you saw the result. Give me defense any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

I pretty sure Brady has played a soft schedule over his entire career and never put up these numbers. You can hate on somebody and still be big enough to admit they did something special, just saying

    I agree about defense though.

Well in 07 the Pats played a pretty tough schedule and played a lot of playoff teams and some teams with 13 wins and still he put those crazy numbers up. I agree though that his division has been pretty weak. Although the Jets have made a couple of AFC Championship games here in the past few years. Also Brady has played in a lot more inclement weather and we saw a stat not too long ago that showed how Peyton looks in bad weather games and it's not nearly as good as Brady under those circumstances. Also just to prove that I can compliment Peyton I will say that he had a funny commercial one time. LOL! SEE!

LOL! I try but it's just SO hard! It would be like trying to get me to compliment Flacco. He is my mortal enemy and also for me to compliment him would be to validate the opinions of others and that's just not me. LOL. Just kidding. It would be crazy for me to not recognize that he has a ton of records and he has put in the time to earn them. My favorite record of his is probably his record 12 losses in the playoffs. That's a great accomplishment. I mean NO one has EVER done that. But don't tell me that I can't give credit where it is due. (I'm really a bad person and BF will have a stroke because of me) LOL.

There's no need to compliment Flacco, ever

blountforcetrauma said "The board seems sorta split on the game. I've noticed that me, gp, Freak, and Diamond seem to have really enjoyed it.

Nice! Quite a few here had a good handle on the game.

I don't remember who I picked in the thread about the PO's. Actually I may just have conveniently forgot.:smiley1: But here are some posts from another board I made prior to the game.

[h=4]Re: Seattle vs Denver[/h]Every post so far has picked Denver.

It did not take long for the oddsmakers to make a line. Denver opened as a one point favorite. Den -1. Two other places had the same but one place had Den by -2.5. If I played these games which I really don't I would take Seattle at -2.5. I do think it will go in the other direction as the days go by.

[h=4]Re: Munchack to be interview by Steelers[/h]I think Steeler fans should be upset with Singletary. His inability to win kept Frisco drafting ahead of Pit. Time and again they were taking players that really belonged here.

As far as SF Harbaugh being a great offensive mind. Well, maybe so. But the Defense completely stymied Carolina and probably did the same thing to GB. And now one or another of the leagues best D's is going to be the NFC champ. And then probably go on and be the world champ. Where are all these the game is changing people?

Interesting that you ask? Sirius is actually a day late and a dollar short as they say.:smiley1: Of course that stat was only for #1 D's and O's.

However about a half dozen or so years ago a regular poster posted a study on this. He went back to 70 and and looked at every significant stat [final average ranking] of the champs like Run D Pass D Pass O Run O Sacks[the least significant] 3rd down %, punt-Kickoff stuff---you name it it was there. The conclusion was D and more specifically Pass D was the #1 stat these champs had in common. The guys name was Vrabinic ? and the post went around and was put in just about every Steeler board you could find. It was really quite an amazing bit of info. Anyone else remember this. _

Uh! It could have come in handy in analyzing this game. No?:smiley1:

My father in law called me while I was on the way to church and wanted to get a last minute prediction from me because I think he must have been going to place a last minute bet or something. I said "If Seattle gets up and plays tight coverage and hits them off the line they will win. If they don't they won't." That turned out to be the exact thing that happened. Every throw was contested. Every dropback was pressured. Every run play seem really well sniffed out. It was just a thing of beauty to behold and I would almost kill to see us playing with that kind of passion and heart again. The one game I can think of this year where we did that was when we played the bungles at home. For the first little bit of that game we were absolutely killing them in every possible way. But that was the thing with this team this year. They would just tease us a little and then when we were going in for the treat they would yank it away. I want less of that and more of what we used to get.

    How true!

I could not find any reason to root for either team. But,for me Seattle was the lesser of the two evils. After all Pete Carroll was not there in 05 and that squad and coaches were mostly or all gone I think.

QUESTION: Was Carroll the coach at USC when Polamalu was drafted?

The last 3 times these teams played the Steelers won.

Carroll was hired in 2010 so I guess he was there for the 2011 game. Some turnaround for them. Unfortunatly shutting them out twice after the SB still didn't shut their screwball fans mouths.

A bit lost in the aftermath was the fine play of Wilson. He really made a whole lot of important plays too.

Yeah I REALLY like Wilson. I think he will make a great role model for kids and he seems like a really hard worker too. Also Carroll would have been at USC when Troy was there. The funny thing about him was that I initially figured he just took the Seattle job to get out of trouble at USC but boy was I wrong. I thought he would just coach a couple of years and call it quits but he has really turned that team around big time. I actually think this hawks team is MUCH better than the hawks team that made the 05 Super Bowl.
