I have no problem with this...while some say he is older and has had some injury history...for the role the Steelers would want him to play I think he can handle it...and i personally dont think it would stop them from drafting another RB.

Its one of their needs. Can't avoid everything else while looking for a corner and pass rusher. I'm sure their is a lot of multitasking going on.

We have to bring in a RB with Leveon getting suspended. I actually like this move.

The playoff loss is fresh in their minds. RB depth was a huge contributor to that. I want a good cb too and have forever but this is a need as well. I would prefer Pierre Thomas but I wouldn't necessarily throw a hissy over this.

You know that, just because we all agreed pretty much on Pierre Thomas being a good signing, they wouldn't do it...

I have no issue with signing Williams if we need to. I've been expecting us to pick up a solid vet as a back up RB, and he's one of the better ones out there.

It's because of Organizational Arrogance. They're trying to prove this message board wrong. :lolol:

Can he rush the passer? :lolol: Would be a decent pick up and cost little. One year deal.

Yeah they just couldn't allow themselves to allow balance in the force. LOL. BUT, with that being said, maybe we should all agree on Cam Thomas???

I was going to put you on blast, but it's 81 degrees with 70% humidity, and I just can't deal with anything else right now.

We signed a starting caliber backup last season. That helped?

I don't get the sudden obsession with overqualified backup RBs. When Mendy (a lesser RB) was our starter we made due with Ike Redman, Jonathan Dwyer, Barron Batch, Mewelde Moore, Felix Jones, and LaRod Stephens-Howling. Now we have a stud every down RB, and we just have to have a starting caliber backup RB?

That makes about as much sense to me as our other new RB obsession ... the midget scatback.

No, because he was a jackass and got thrown off the team. Painfully obvious that they need a quality backup after witnessing what happened without Bell, nobody said it has to be starter quality, just quality.

Are the Steelers only allowed to make 1 FA move this year that I'm not aware of? I don't see the big deal about their interest in him.

RB is the easiest position to fill. Draft a rookie ... a human sized rookie ... and there's your backup on a dirt cheap contract for 3 years.

I'm sure they are still going to, regardless of what FA they bring in, but it won't be early in the draft and they will have to be able to fill in for Bell for at least 2 games, maybe 4, would they be ready?

Haley's system seems to work well with a good 1-2 punch. With our o line still having some question marks it also helps to have a guy that can pass protect. Yeah we didn't have a strong backfield when BA was here but Ben also spent a lot of time getting clobbered as well. I'm not saying there aren't other needs. There very much are. I just think this is among one of those needs.

DeAngelo will be another Duce Staley standing on the sidelines in sweatpants injured.

Even if we had Bell, I'm not convinced the Rats wouldn't of handed us our asses either way. We were just flat. There was no need to scramble for a damn back back then. We had Will J who is more than suitable at catching/running/pass protection, but everyone other than the coaches see that I suppose. I'm not against D. Williams but an injury prone Back puts us right back at square one if he folds. And yes I know that everybody is just a freak accident away blah blah blah... But it would be smart to not increase the percentages buy purchasing a glass back. Either way we gotta take what we can get, so here's to hoping for the best.

Not having Bell changed the whole complexity of that game, maybe we'd lose anyway but I sure liked our chances better with him.

I haven't made up my mind about Williams but the the argument is that there is nothing wrong with them looking for Bells back up, whomever that may end up being.
