The hard ass thing was just an act for the media. Tomlin will take your football iq to Jesus levels. According to someone that played for both, Ike Taylor. He pretty much destroys a bunch of the anti-tomlin and pro-cowher rhetoric seen around here.
One of the most interesting things that both Talib and Taylor talk about is team chemistry. Although neither of them actually call it team chemistry. That’s not something a coach can create. it’s something that happens organically.

Good stuff. I’ve always thought of Cowher as a players coach, I thought that was a common belief.

I remember on the old Steelers forums how much hate and vitriol there was for Cowher before he won his Super Bowl.

I hope to see more of this type of media coverage platform vs 90% of the garbage that I tune out on. Two seasoned vets talking football raw and unpolished.

The major media outlets as well as the stuff on the net are so over the top about the mind numbing topics that they try to juice up.

Like Adam Schefter showing Aaron Rogers Toe Xray.. Im being facetious but thats the kind of coverage that sells sponsorship I guess.

I saw an interview not to long ago where he claimed he didnt want Big Ben and wanted I think an O Lineman. He tried to convert OL Jamain Stephens to the Dline which I thought was interesting and took over the offensive calling I believe from Earhart during the season.

Moats has a decent show on YouTube. Haven’t watched any of the other Talib videos. I think Ramon Foster has one as well, but I haven’t checked it out yet.

Yeah I’ve heard that Cowher didn’t want Ben. He wanted an offensive lineman and Rooney overruled him. Apparently Rooney let them pass on Marino back in the day and he’s always regretted it.

Not drafting Marino was the biggest draft blunder the Steelers EVER made. Not that they didn’t draft a great player that year in Gabe Rivera, whose career was tragically cut short when he was paralyzed in a car accident while he was DUI…stupid! But…how many more Super Bowls would the Steelers have won with Marino as their QB? The 80s wouldn’t have been nearly so painful.

I actually subscribe to him based on him being posted up here. lol

There was a good clip of Talib talking about Sean McVeigh and other past coaches and their styles.

He isnt a sellout as of now and I guess I automatically give credibility to someone who physically played the game when really wanting a perspective on someone.

Absolutely without a doubt. I would take a player’s opinion over pretty much any max/maxine headroom.

Not buying it. If Tomlin's football IQ was Jesus level, his bonehead game time decisions and calls would be non existent. Our offensive and defensive gameplans would be amazing, which they never are. Not to mention overall preparedness. This is Ike Taylor trying to get viewers, nothing more.

Look at the product on the field instead of what other people say.

Let us ponder this for a second. On one hand we have a professional that played for both coaches. On the other hand we have a fan. Hmmmm that’s a tough one. Might be too close to call.

I'm basing my opinion on what I see on the field week in and week out, not just taking a former players word for it. Tomlin could be Einstein for all it matters, but the team often looks dumb as a rock.

Yeah you're right, the ineptness that shows up on the field for all to see, I'm causing that I guess. Great comeback.

Perhaps but really, Marino was great for stats but couldn't win big games.

The Jesus level coach that can’t get his WR to understand game situations and the urgency that is sometimes needed in certain situations.

I'll agree a little but Shula did not build a better team for him. Marino didn't have the senior year people thought he should have and that is why I believe the Steelers passed on him.

Imagine what Billicheck would have done with him:(

For sure! Dont forget that our luck and decision making as far as qbs go had us letting Len Dawson go and even worse thee Johnny Unitas. It's why I've cherished having Ben as long as we have. Qbs like that are a rarity.

Exactly! If it was the level I was talking about I wouldn't be worried about a long rebuild. I would be all Comfy like Patriot fans are knowing the turnaround is right around the corner.

I remember the vitriol thrown towards Kordell and the vicious rumors about why Cowher stuck with him as QB

Apparently they practice those scenarios all the time. Claypool made a mistake. A pretty terrible one too.
