I started The Haunting of Hill House a few days go. I'm on episode 2, and it's definitely creepy, but the jury is still out.

This is the kind of show I would generally really like, but I'm not finding myself drawn to go back and keep watching for some reason. I've stopped twice during episode 2 and actually forgot about it until later each time. Maybe it will get more engrossing, and I can't really find anything bad about it, just not grabbing me.

Still liked the original B&W movie from the 60's. Much more psychological images than special bloody effects. Was scary at the time. Probably doesn't hold up well today. Kind of like the original B&W Thing with James Arness as the the creature.

Well actually the B&W the Thing, and the John Carpenter 80s version are almost two different movies even though the are both adapted from the story Who Goes There by John Campbell.

That especially applies to HP Lovecraft books vs movies. Of course, depends on one's own imagination.

Ah , one of my favorite Authors. I would say 70% of all horror today is at least loosely based on his work.
I still think someone should make a movie of At the Mountains of Madness.

A few Google bits - apparently low budget versions have been made but a much bigger version never made it to the finish line:

Background: What is the H.P. Lovecraft Novella About?
The 1936 novella is told from the perspective of Dr. William Dyer, who warns against a new Antarctic expedition. He details how a previous team found ancient, advanced, yet alien ruins beneath the ice, uncovering that they were the creators of life on Earth. The party faces dangers from surviving creatures (Elder Things) and their creations, the Shoggoths.

At the Mountains of Madness (Big Budget Version)
Is a famous unmade film project, notably developed by director Guillermo del Toro with producer James Cameron in the early 2010s. Based on H.P. Lovecraft’s 1936 novella, it was designed as a big-budget, R-rated horror epic featuring Tom Cruise and an Antarctic expedition discovering ancient, dangerous alien civilizations. While a 2021 low-budget version exists, Del Toro's high-profile adaptation was cancelled due to budget/rating conflicts, despite releasing CGI test footage.

    Low Budget Version(s)
The 2021 Film: A 1-hour 9-minute film titled At the Mountains of Madness was released in 2021 directed by Matthew Cooper, featuring a smaller-scale horror-thriller adaptation.

Several low-budget independent short films and trailers titled At the Mountains of Madness were released around 2021-2022, inspired by the H.P. Lovecraft novella. A notable 15-minute 2022 Italian narrative short was featured at the H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival. These projects are distinct from Guillermo del Toro's long-unproduced big-budget adaptation.

Hmm. I guess I will have to seek out these low budget films. I wish they would let Guillermo Del Toro do it. He is so great with color scheme of his shots, it would be worth it just for that.

I've been watching a few old movies and I do enjoy no blood when someone gets shot. It was a little odd at first since todays stuff is over the top with blood and guts.

I will say that I finished Castle Rock season 2 a few days ago. I really liked season 2, better than season 1. It's especially good if you've read or watched
    Misery and Salem's Lot.
