Honestly I'm surprised we got any pick. Signing Mitchell and Blount pretty much negated any loss of significance on our part.

Better than nothing, i'll take it. OLB Obum Gwachum or OT Terry Poole, two late guys I like.

They felt sorry for us after Blount quit to go win a Super Bowl. Surprised they didn't give as a 4th rounder for that debacle.

How the hell does NE get 2 and Balt get 3? I didn't expect us to get any, but it seems like certain teams get them every year.

Dammit. I thought our losses outweighed our gains enough to get a 6th.

New England gets a 3rd for renting a player for 1 year (Talib), and then letting him walk. They'll get another 3rd next year for Revis, and another good pick for their 1 year rental of Browner.

I personally think that the system is flawed if that can happen. Comp picks should be to compensate teams for players that are drafted, groomed and then lost to free agency, not 1 year rentals. What a joke of a system. The system should be changed to only apply to free agents lost and signed at the end of their rookie contracts. That will compensate teams appropriately for the loss of players from their "farm systems" and not for 1 year rentals who were never in the teams' long term plans anyway.

considering the production (or lack thereof) of our f.a. pick ups, I would've thought the league would feel sorry for us and give us a little more

The Patriots declined to exercise their option on Revis for 2015, so I don't think they will get anything for losing him. I'm not sure about that, but I think that's the way it works.

Geez, Turtle, you have some deep knowledge on this draft class. Those guys do not make my radar at all. A 7th is almost like having none. What have we pulled out in the 7th round in the modern era?

    Blanchflower
    Nick Williams
    Paulson
    Frederick
    Beachum
    Baron Batch
    Worthington
    Shipley
    David Johnson
    Dallas Baker
    Cedric Humes
    Shaun Nua
    Herron
    Eric Taylor
    JT Wall
    Lavar Glover
    Keisel
    Chris Taylor
    Dingle
    Kelsay
    K. Brown
    Rubio
Mike Adams (DT, not OT who sucks just as bad)
    Carlos Emmons
    Henry Bailey
    Cole Ford
    Brice Abrams

About 4 of them turned out to do anything out of 27 of the last 7th round picks, which amounts to about 15%. Not great odds. Of course if they find a Beachum or Keisel it would be great - just not very likely.

You may be right about that. I hope so, but it still doesn't change my view on how the comp pick system is flawed.

Yeah don't get me started.....they use some complex make believe algorithm to award picks to whoever they want. For what reason is the whole determination process some kind of top secret formula. Denver gets two picks ahead of us in the 7th...wtf is that? ......on a unrelated note how is that deflation investigation going? Just wondering....
