I was just thinking, is there another GM better than Colbert at wideouts? Burress, Holmes, Brown,Sanders, Bryant, Wheaton (* for last 2). can't remember if Nate Washington and Randle-El were his. No Limas Sweed jokes, please.

Yeah, he's been here since 2000' so Washington and Randle- El were his picks. You missed Wallace too. He's done a really good job picking the WR's for us. The only position he has fairly consistently been bad at drafting is CB. He's made some nice moves in acquiring Hartings, Farrior, and Ryan Clark as well.

D'OH! Wallace. Wonder if he misses Ben throwing him the long ball yet?

I am guessing the one trick pony likes the money he collects each week. :) But yes he certainly went from penthouse to outhouse, at least in my opinion... :)

We haven't had a pro bowl corner since Rod Woodson. And I know he is a once and a lifetime legend, but we haven't had any one come close. Not even in the same zip code. You tellin me since 1987 when Rod Woodson was drafted we haven't had a defensive back in the same stratosphere as Woodson.

We just don't value the position as much because we valued pass rushers more and had them. But now we need corners in a bad way.

ike's been snubbed on more than one occasion. ..DeShea Townsend had 1 or 2 pro bowl worthy seasons himself

Wallace has 32 catches for 418yds and 5tds on the season. Sanders has 47 catches for 634yds and 4tds. AB has 60 catches for 852yds and 7tds and if they hadn't blown that call in the Texans game he would have 8tds right now! Colbert CLEARLY made the right decision in letting Wallace walk and paying AB EARLY on top of that! Wallace was already crying for a contract and AB wasn't even up for one and they sign him to that extension. That was a great move and I would love to have seen the look on Wallace's face when he found out they had done that.

If Washington and Scott could be allowed to cover 1 receiver, they might have been pro bowl calibre... Nah...

I stand by the prediction I made when Wallace took his (lack of) talent to South Beach that he's already had his best two statistical seasons with the Steelers.

Yeah I think if he ever wants to put up big numbers again that he should go to AZ. He is averaging 13.1ypc and that is also less than Sanders and AB. I would be surprised if he sees a pro bowl as a fin.

He does know how to evaluate WR position,
it is the OL and CB position you better worry about.

The guy is slowly putting together a very good roster for the future. God forbid you have to suffer through a couple of 8–8 seasons.

    This.
the problems with being a fan of one of the most successful and proud franchises in any sport. Could you imagine the pulling of hair and gnashing of teeth if we went 4-12?

The funny thing is, even know we went 8-8 last season, we were still in it to the very last second. As a fan, that's all I ask for, is to make sure every Sunday means something and not be out of the playoff picture with 8 weeks left in the season. Like the Jets at 1-7.

If not for an absurd string of bad calls in a different game, we'd have made the playoffs. And we were a hot team, too. You never know. We looked terrible at times in 2005, too. Of course, we should have been in control of our own destiny by not losing to the likes of Miami (in the snow!), but the fact is that even with all those ugly losses, we were still a playoff team.

i'll never be proud of 8-8 no matter how good we were playing at the end and relying on other teams to help us in. take care of your own business and it won't come down to that stuff. bottom line. different year different team than last year.

I pretty much feel the same. It kills me that a 9-7 giants team won the Super Bowl. That just feels wrong to me. I'm not really a big fan of "underdogs" or "cinderella stories". I want our team to be dominant and really separate themselves as the best team in the world. I want to dominate and not just seem "lucky". I have a problem with not just wanting to be MY best but THE best. I want the Steelers to be that way as well. Is that sorta what you are saying?

If Ike Taylor and Deshea Townsend is the best we can do since 1987, I'm surprised we haven't been worst in coverage defense.

we are a franchise that expects more. we haven't been real used to under preforming defenses in the last 40 years. or pass rushes or decent o-lines and d-lines. we as steeler fans and long time steeler fans expect it from this franchise. we don't like to stray from playoff contention at least. 8-8 is like kissin your sister. opps sorry, your from tenn. LOL just kiddin BFT.:smiley1::cool:

LOL! That doesn't really happen in TN. That's more a KY thing. It's like Clayton Bigsby said "If anybody's gonna be kissin' my sister it's gonna be ME!" LOL!!!

Exactly. Would I rather be a dominant team steam rolling everyone in our path while on our way to the playoffs and SB? Of course but at the very least, just give me a reason to cheer every week. As Steelers fans, we've been very fortunate to not experience games with no meaning very often.

Well, Carnell Lake was pretty good as well, but he was drafted 2 years after Woodson.

Why you guys always forgetting the other guy that played Safety and CB with 5 pro-bowls?
