Coaches or Scouting

People keep accusing Tomlin and Butler of poor coaching and that's a very reasonable and justified question. But, I don't hear people calling out the scouting very much.

Maybe the coaches can't win with overvalued talent. We now have EIGHT 1st round starters and TEN in total on the defensive side of the ball alone. Never mind releasing Jarvis Jones whos college sack tape clearly looked more like opportunistic sacks versus quality self-produced sacks. I saw that on tape the day they drafted him.

Watt and Heyward are the only ones that seem worthy of 1st round grades that we drafted and only Haden on our free-agent signings. Everyone else seem to be glorified mid-round pics.

Maybe our problem is more deep-rooted and systemic than the obvious surface-level stuff.

All that being said, I am very optimistic with the infusion of Fitzpatrick at safety. I know he's not Kalil Mack, but one guy might be the catalyst to make this crew gel. I'm also very optimistic that Rudolph might be just what the doctor ordered with a less fluid game plan and something more focused. Our offensive skill players are all crazy young right now behind a very veteran O-line.

The players are not the issue here. Even players like Cam Sutton have shown they are capable of thriving in the defense if given the oppurtunity. Terrell Edmunds was drafted as a multi role defensive player. Yet, Keith Butler has shown he has almost ZERO clue on how to use him!



It is not the talent here. Keith Butler is simply NOT the answer. Should Pittsburgh lose today, PLEASE demote Keith and promote Terryl. If not, speed dial Greg Schiano if he is available.
