I agree that they have the right to gloat on the playoff debacle.

Not so sure about invoking the weight of history to make their case though.

Why do you always downplay that game? It was more a dismemberment than it was a loss.

Browns completely and totally embarrassed the Steelers. It was more than "one victory", especially to them.

Meh. They didn’t do a thing for the first TD except fall on the ball. Then were gifted 5 picks. Not sure they dismembered the Steelers as much as the Steelers dismembered themselves.

These aholes are all over twitter, any time I do a search about the Steelers looking for news, I sift through all these losers shooting a load over their 1 playoff victory. YAAAAYYY we won a playoff game in 40 years.

I don't follow Twitter at all. I could see that being irritating if I did.

I have a neighbor that's a Browns fan. After the Steelers blew them out earlier in the season, I gave him **** for a week. I even gave him **** after the 2nd teamers almost beat them at the end of the year.

After the playoff game, he gave that **** right back to me, and still brings it up when we see eachother.

It doesn't bother me at all. I can dish it out, but I can take it too. A playoff win, to a Browns fan, is a HUGE deal. Hell, a playoff win to a Steeler fan would be a HUGE deal at this point.

I fast scroll past it until I find Steelers news, I don’t respond. I just notice that they spend a lot of time talking about the Steelers and us fans.

I’ve never got that but then again, Steelers have pretty much owned them for a very long time so I can see why we are in their heads so much.

Pressure and coverage had nothing to do with it?

I doubt it and don’t care to watch it again to break that game down.

Was Ben horrible down the stretch or was it because defenses were making great plays. I think we know the answer to that one.

The only way you could get me to rewatch that game is if I was tied up, and at gunpoint. Lol.

Technically wouldn't those championships belong to Baltimore now and Cleveland is back to zero?

But I hate to open this can of worms but Pittsburgh sports writer Mike Pursuits posed this topic years ago that did get me thinking. Should pre Super Bowl era championships not count for anything? Like here we like to brag and say we're the best we won 6 SBs but if you want to get technical Green Bay with the number of SB wins plus pre era championships would be the most successful franchise. With the Giants second. Sure there were a lot less teams back then but there were no playoffs so to be in that championship game you had to post the best record in the whole conference which is still a big challenge.

Not saying that it makes what Browns fans are doing as ok but food for thought.

I'm here to help. First off, it was 4 picks, not 5.

Pick 1 - Ben flushed by a safety blitz on 1st and 10, overthrew Snell as he was getting hit.

Pick 2 - This one was unforced, Ben had a pocket and threw slightly behind DJ, who gacked it.

Pick 3 - DD driven back by DL, who tipped pass up in the air. It was already 28-0 at that point.

Pick 4 - Also unforced, but game was pretty much over. Ben missed underneath backer, Browns took over with 3:16 left up 16.

In between all of that, the Steelers' D allowed the Browns to capitalize on the first pick by hemorrhaging 46 yards on 3 plays in their first action of the night, Watt was stuffed on a 4th and 1, Browns easily drove 65 yards when it was still 14-0, Tomlin cowardly punted on a couple of 4th downs when they were down by multiple scores, the D gave up a 64-yard drive at the end of the half after finally getting their first score to make it 28-7, and then an 80-yard drive when it was in reach at 35-23.

The entire team sucked that day. The D couldn't stop the run or pass, got no pressure, no sacks, no turnovers.

Would they have won if Ben only threw 2? Maybe. Would they have won if the D forced 2 of their own? Maybe.

4 or 5 does it matter when you turn the ball over that many times? Bet the winning percentage of teams that turn the ball over that much is pretty awful.

They gifted that game to the Browns starting with a very generous TD on the Steelers first offensive snap.

I think part of the deal with the league was Modell had to leave everything in Cleveland that includes the name and history. So while the more modern history Browns became the Ravens the premerger records history and championships stayed for the current Browns to claim despite the gap

It was more of a fluke win for them IMO, it's not often the Steelers will lose the turnover battle 5-0 in a playoff game.

1972 was the start of a dynasty for the Steelers, the Browns playoff win not so much.
