i'm all for it as long as Batch is capable. I think Leftwich needs to go, and we need to find a serviceable #2 whether that be in the draft or somewhere else. If we pick up a young guy in the draft, I think he could learn alot with watching Ben and being around Charlie.

I'd be for it but he can't be the #2, I like Charlie but we need a younger backup to Ben.

i love Batch, but his time has come. he is not capable of getting the job done anymore. i know he had the 1 big win against the Ravens, but that took everything that team had. they need to get a handful of guys next year and find the 2 best guys to be the backups.

I'd rather have him than Leftwich for sure...and then add a young guy in there and we'll be good to go. It would help the young guy too as Charlie could work with him and such also. Works for me!

yea, that really wouldn't be a bad thing. charlie could actually help the kid along teaching him as they go during games. explaining whats going on as they watch the action. it would bring the young guy along much quicker in the offense.

Exactly...be it a rookie...or a guy whos been in the league a few years. Charlie could help either way. Plus if by some odd chance called into duty again I trust Charlie more than Lefty.

I wonder if this is mostly just for financial reasons since he has had some financial issues and had to even file bankruptcy. I mean can he really still have the hunger it takes to keep yourself in game shape when you're more than likely (hopefully) not gonna get to play anyway? I think they should just go ahead and give him a job within the organization because I really wouldn't be surprised if that winds up happening anyway. I don't mind him being on the roster as a number 3 but I think we really need to start looking at getting a more servicable backup for sure though. So is the consensus here that Lefty is gone?

I'd like him to stay on as #3 and find a younger QB to groom for #2. I'd also like to see him stick around because of all the work he does with the rookies on the practice field, and the motivation and support he gives players in general.

Charlie would be a big help to a new QB and It could be valuable to keep his veteran presence around the team. Keep in mind, there could be a big void in that area when the off-season is over.

Batch is a leader in the locker rm. And a positive role model for the younger guys.... so long as we can find a suitable young replacement for lefty, then I'd be all for bringing batch back

Batch will be back. Look at the other options (or lack there of).

    OF COURSE KEEP HIM
with bigben going to Arizona and Jemarcus Russell plus Michael Vick coming to the Steelers. It's obvious Batch is an ideal fit for those two young ones

I'm not knocking CB at all, but I keep hearing about how he's a great influence and locker room presence and what not.

And then I see we went 8-8, and most of the season we were questioning player motivation, Ben's preparation, etc. etc.

So is it that we would be much much worse without him, and he's actually holding it all together in the locker room? I don't disagree that he's a positive role model - just think we can overstate how much effect that's having on the team.
