No they won't find another Ben, that's why they need to win a Super Bowl in the next 5 years while they still have him.

I was watching the game when Ben took his first snap in a regular season game. It was against the Ratbirds, and we were losing big time in the second half and the starter (Maddox?) got injured. It was the first look, to see what the rookie could do in the hopeless cause and I remember that he did pretty good overall considering.

My brother asked me the next day "what do you think about him" and I answered "the short answer is he looks like he knows what he is doing out there."

Ben went on to look like "he knows what he is doing" by winning all 14 regular season starts in his rookie year.

None of these new QB`s compares. They also do not really look like they know what they are doing. We are very fortunate to have had a chance to draft Ben.

I remember that magical season too. Bye bye Touchdown Tommy!
Watching Thursday's game, I've gotta say, Mariota looks like he "gets it" too.

I don't think there will be another Ben either. I just hope in the next 5-7 years that Ben will probably play that the Steelers can at least win one more Super Bowl. Don't know if Mike Tomlin though is the right coach to do it.

Elway is Ben's favorite QB, I think? And that's why he wears no. 7. So I'm not sure Ben would mind the comparison.

Yeah he is and that's exactly the reason he wears his number. I like the fact that Ben loves Elway because I loved him too.

Actually Manziel reminds me of "Frank" Tarkenton or was it Fran Gifford? One of those guys. ;)

I remember when we first got him. Back then, I didn't watch any college football so I didn't know anything about him- but his name (obviously) stuck out.

Any chance they change the name of the City to Pithlisburgher upon his retirement? Or maybe acquire a certain large clock from London - kinda like Lake Havasu Ariz acquired and reinstalled a certain bridge from London?

I remember when we drafted him. I didn't pay much attention to college football or the draft back then. So I didn't know much about him. I doubt the people who did watch him in college knew what he'd do for us.
I don't think any team will find another Ben Roethlisberger. Including us. There are many things that make him unique. The main things for me are his size, quickness, & fearlessness.
When he does retire, it will be a dark day for Steelers fans.

Dude Elway was the man! What's wrong with Elway? He was clutch. He was tough. He was a winner.

That would be one odd Fathead collection. Brady's would have to converted to a dart board.

Late in career he was a winner. Early in his career, horse face was a whiner.

Yeah. He didn't really have the horses Peyton did though did he? I mean Peyton had Marvin and Reggie. Did Elway really ever have a great weapon before Davis?

There were others but, my computer is so SLOW I don't have the time to go through all the rosters in the 80s and 90s. Elway turned into a clutch QB after he stopped throwing the ball so hard!
I laughed my azz off when Elway lost 55-10. I cheered when he matured and finally won a SB

No offense to neither you nor your son but I'm gonna have to go with Ben Jr. on this one purely due to genes. If your son does by chance happen to make the NFL, how would it make you feel if he were to drafted by the Rats? Would you convince him to demand to be traded like Archie probably told Eli?

That 55-10 loss was my first Super Bowl that I have actual memories of watching when it originally aired. My uncle is a huge Notre Dame and 9ers fan and my dad kept calling him throughout the game laughing about how awesome Montana was. That's why I've always had an affection for the 9ers franchise. If I was gonna support an NFC team it would be them but then they go and get that Harbaugh clown and I couldn't cheer for them during that time. I also don't like Kap. I actually saw something today saying that he was probably gonna get cut. I figured he would.

LOL! No offense taken. If he were drafted by them I would be devastated for sure. Last Sunday afternoon after church I had got done eating my beans and cornbread that my mamaw always makes for me on Sundays and I was running across the yard to my house because the game was about to start and Ben was outside with his uncle and he said "Why are you running daddy?" and I said "The Steelers are about to play and I have to get in there and watch them" and my uncle put him up to saying "The Cowboys are better" and I said "No they're not!" So then when I was getting him ready for church that evening he said "Did you watch the Steelers today?" and I said yeah and he said "The Cowboys are better" and I said "No! We DON'T say that! We don't like the Cowboys because they are for girls." and he sorta got real teary eyed and said "Uncle Sambo likes them though..." and I said "Well we can't help what he does but we love the Steelers." So then Tuesday night my mamaw made me beans and cornbread again and his uncle was trying to get him to say that and I said "He learned not to say that" and he goes "It's ok if he likes the Cowboys" and I said "Well then I'll just teach him to like FL or AL in college". I promise you I'll never hear another word about the Cowboys! LOL!!!

I always had a lot of respect for the 80s 49er teams and I still say Montana is the greatest QB ever. I'm with you about Krapyerdick. I always say, "Montana never kissed his own biceps" I'm glad they're bencing Colin K. He deserves it!

I'd say Montana is the best too. I go back and forth between him and Brady and I say if Brady gets one more it will be him hands down.

He had his share of weapons but I think he was extra motivated in his later years when he won his Super Bowls - because after all - we know who his backup was........

(I actually have an off-brand football card I think I found at a 99 cent store that says: "Buddy Brister" and his picture with that silly hayseed grin)
