Although I am not expecting him to report until
after camp, could Mike Wallace even be ready to perform at a high level(no pun intended)
for a real game in Denver opening week end? I will say natta, maybe by Oakland game?

I'm with you I think he is really hurting the team by not reporting

I really think everyone is still making more of this than there will actually be. Then again, we all think we're experts on this board, so why would there be any more sense of realism on this board than in the general media?

Of course Mike could be ready for Denver. Only way he doesn't play if he isn't signed. He'll be there.

he never was a great route runner anyway... all they tell him is go deep and get behind your man... as they say .. you cant teach speed and thats all that one trick pony has..... but ... the good thing is by him "going deep" anywhere he might take not 1 but 2 defenders with him.. and that opens up AB or sanders or cotch.. so id say he could join the night before the game and be ready. just hear ben cal the play and add.. wallace.. go deep anywhere

if he has not been working out properly, and it is hard to replicate game speed, than the chances of pulling a hammy in camp and having it linger all season are pretty good.

I'll be surprised if he turns out truly good to go. New playbook, new teammates, old blockers retired and accumulated rust.

I'm not worried about him...there may be a couple mistakes or whatever here or there. But he's been working out...he has the playbook. I'm not worried.

I believe he is working out with Tom Shaw, so he should be in good shape if he would bring his arse back here.

I don't know where one would get stats for this, but it seems as though this happens a lot. A star player holds out, comes in, has a lackluster year, or gets hurt, or both.

Case in point, I had Chris Johnson on my fantasy team last year. Somewhere between his hold out and lack luster performance, he wasn't worth my 1st round pick.

Yeah - I would expect Wallace to be working out. He's not an idiot. As I've said before on another thread, we shouldn't confuse approaches to contract negotiations with his general work ethic.

if he comes in right before the Denver game I say Haley tells Mike to go deep every other play that would be his training camp, ( Just Kiddin) he'll be fine.

He waits for the snap and then runs straight for the endzone. He'll be fine.

Being in shape won't be an issue.

Timing will be a small problem, but that comes soon enough.

Knowing plays? Just let him run flies until he learns.

I agree. He has the playbook, he talks with Scottie Montgomery, he's working out. His performance shouldn't suffer. The timing is the biggest thing, but that shouldn't take too long to get to where it needs to be. Hopefully he reports soon of course...

    In shape,yes.
    Has the playbook,yes
Ready to play, only in a few plays. Even at that it'll be decoy. QB/WR timing is VERY critical and takes time and practice to get right and with a new playbook it's even more important to work together on.

Here's hoping our other WR's demonstrate Wallace is replacable.
