I don't think we can count out Steely McBeam's contributions yet! He may be a solid contributor one day!

Boykin will be outside and Allen in the slot before the season ends, just a gut feeling. Like the trade as well.

If Allen steps it up and earns his paycheck, you might see Gay in the slot

I think Gay is best in the slot. He's one of the better slot corners in the league, but can struggle outside at times. I am hoping that Boykin and either Allen, Blake or Grant take the outside spots. Don't count Grant out. He was one of the most NFL ready corners in this year's draft, especially for a cover 2.

i'm with ya on grant. if blake doesn't pick it up in getting his head around, he could be in trouble. webb from what i've heard is doing pretty well. i keep hearing about blake not getting his head around on coverage again and again. i think if golson was healthy, blake may have a tough hill to climb and could be the odd man out. the golson injury may be his saving grace this year. it's early though.

What rush said. Right now I believe Gay would slide to the slot if Boykin steps up big. I hear Boykin is really good in the slot though.

Gay is great in slot/nickel, and so is Brandon but lets hope Boy Kin play outside and in space.

Bet the Eagles are regretting the trade now.
They just lost a CB for the season.

I wonder what they might give us for Cortez Allen...?

Only joking. I still have faith Cortez is going to surprise a lot of people this season.

He is already the best cb on the Steelers roster, now we get Grant up to speed and Gay at the slot. Steelers will have decent CB rotation. The big question what to do with Cortez Allen and his 25 million dollar contract?

I think that the shift to more cover 2 may give Allen a chance to rewrite his story. I Think there's a decent chance that he'll be Ok. Agree that Boykin is the best one right now. BW Webb impressed Sunday night as well.

That contract is the real issue here. Without that I seriously doubt he'd be considered a guaranteed starter this season.

Was at Camp last night, Grant, and Boykin really
look the part. Boykin is the real deal, not sure what Chip Kelly didn't like? Built great, fluid body movement. JJ has bulked up
Shazier also, Shazier is very gifted. Watch # 19. Coates appeared to
tweak something, made a catch and slammed ball down? DHB looked good Coach T gave him encouragement high fives, Carnell Lake from way behind the defense & Peazy
were taking lots of notes when team was scrimmaging. Levean Bell looks fabulous Markus Wheaton looks fabulous.AB, just simply the best player on the field.

Cheers for the report. Did you see much of Holliman, out of interest? And how did Grant measure up to the other DBs?

I did see Holliman looks bigger in person, The Steelers must have seen something they liked. I will reserve judgement until I eyeball him making tackles, or wanting to hit someone. When practice started defense was on far field 3rd field, thru binoculers coach Butler was really coaching up JJ and another lb couldn't get his number. This was first practice for #92 looks great not much out of him last night.#7 looks great early in practice receivers were running deep pattern's #7 effortlessly thru on target 50 yds in air 10 times to these receivers. Big crowd at practice, this was the coolest(temp) practice I have ever been at Latrobe and I have been at a lot of practices there. The playing surfaces were pristine.Coach Tomlin was in a vocal mode last night walking thru different drill stations. Todd Haley needs to lose some weight as does coach T.

I think Boykin will be our starting corner opposite William Gay before the end of the season. Not that I hope Cortez Allen have a bad season or doesn't improve. Actually I think Allen will do well this year. You can never have enough cover corners. If these three can play good ball we should be fine.

Thanks for the report. As most have stated Boykin is the best CB we have, how does Holliman look as a Safety ? Does he get the right depths ? Does he take correct angles ? Does he recognize guys coming into his zone ?

What I saw of the game we have serious problems at that position. I actually think Will Allen will start the way those guys played.
